Natomas Freeway Construction

Natomas Freeway Construction: Will it ever end?

Almost five years ago construction commenced on the I-80 freeway in Sacramento County. The area of construction is generally located in Natomas and North Sacramento. The project’s purpose is repaving existing roadway and adding carpool lanes. So, why on earth is it taking so long?

Original Contractor Drops out of Project

August 21, 2014 is a date that forever changed the lives of parents whose infant son died while at his daycare center.  This tragic wrongful death that occurred at a daycare does shed light on a practice that some parents and daycare providers practice that can have deadly results.  In Webster Grove, Missouri a 7 month old infant was found dead under a weighted blanket.

A weighted blanked  is a blanket that has items such as flax seed, beans, poly pellets or other items sewn between the fabric. Some blankets are a DIY home project while others are prescribed or obtained from medical equipment vendor.

For some adults or special needs individuals, a weighted blanket has been said to calm the anxious and distressed.  Some medical providers  have recommended such a blanket for adults who have medical conditions such as restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, night terrors or sleep apnea. Some medical providers encourage the use of such a blanket with children.  In the case of children, it is usually because the child suffers from a sensory processing issues as do autistic children and others with special needs.

As a Citrus Heights Accident lawyer, I’m often asked if there any especially bad intersections where I tend to see a lot of accidents.

There are several intersections that jump out. Some dangerous Citrus Heights intersections statistics show Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard is the most likely place to get into an accident in Citrus Heights. There were some 32 accidents near that intersection or near Sunrise Mall in the past three years.

Another hotspot is the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope road where there have been 28 accidents during the past 3 years.

Yuba City Power Restoration After Rainy Day Collision

PG&E has restored power for over 1,600 customers after Monday’s outage. The cause of this outage was linked to a broken power line after a vehicle collided with a pole. The driver of the vehicle was said to be traveling at an unsafe speed for rainy conditions.

Rainy days- especially some of the first of the season- require a driver’s full attention when behind the wheel of a car.

highway rainTrucking accidents are often responsible for major injuries and fatalities, in large part due to the size and enormous momentum of the vehicles involved, especially fully-loaded trucks. Sacramento truck accidents are more common in large part because of the area’s location at the intersection of major north-south freeways like Interstate-5 and State Highway 99 with major east-west highways such as Interstate-80 and U.S. Highway 50.  It’s proximity to the major Port of Oakland as well as the Port of Sacramento itself, put even more large semi trucks on the area’s roads.

Accidents just in recent months include:

A recent collision on Interstate-80 that involved a big rig with a tank trailer and four other vehicles.  Despite the scary appearance of this accident’s aftermath, there were fortunately only moderate injuries to two of the involved drivers, although traffic in the area was a mess for hours.

Fiery Fatal Crash in Natomas, Ca

On Tuesday August 18th there was a police pursuit that ended in one fatality. Prior to the event police and an air unit were called to investigate reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of Stonecreek Drive in Natomas, CA where a man was reported to have fired off shots from a riffle while in a dispute with neighbors. It was also reported that the suspect fled the scene by a vehicle that was driven by a female driver.

The police air unit located the vehicle west of the Garden Highway and instructed the drive to stop the vehicle with no success. The driver then proceeded to speed off causing the officers to lose sight of the vehicle only to catch up to the car near the 2000 block of Garden Highway to find the vehicle overturned and on fire. The driver was said to be traveling at high speeds and left the roadway hitting a tree.

Fracture of the Lower Tibia

The tibia is one of the main supporting long bones in the lower extremity. It is part of the knee joint, the lower leg, and the ankle joint and can be fracture with a direct blow to the tibia, a fall that compresses the tibia, or a motor vehicle accident in which the tibia receives a high velocity force applied to it during the crash.

Because the tibia is a long bone, fractures can occur near the knee, along the shaft of the bone and at the far end of the bone, near the ankle. Each of these fractures are unique and require different sorts of treatment.

shiny-brain-1254880-mTinnitus is a common symptom from a traumatic brain injury following an auto or motorcycle accident.  I have represented clients over the years who have suffered hearing loss or damage resulting from a head injury.  Often times, a deployed airbag can cause an inner ear injury.

Tinnitus is best defined as any sensation of a sound that does not arise from a source external to the person who experiences the sound. Although tinnitus is most often perceived as “a ringing in the ears,” a variety of other sounds, such as buzzing, humming, whistling, clicking, or roaring, may be heard.

Almost everybody, at one time or another, has experienced tinnitus, in t.he absence of any overt disease state. The sensation is generally transient when not associated with a pathological condition. Most of the time, no cause for the tinnitus can be identified. Like many such comparatively trivial conditions, it is usually ascribed to “a vinis,” and no specific treatment is given. Taking too much aspirin, called salicylism, is the most common cause of temporary tinnitus, when an external agent can even be identified.
