Mendocino Resident Suffers Fatal Trauma During Highway 1 Crash

On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, a Mendocino resident was fatally injured after being involved in a car accident in Sonoma County. The decedent was identified by Sonoma County authorities two days later as Herbert Gorka, a 78-year-old man with residences in both Mendocino County and Carson City, Nevada. Gorka was the only individual involved in the accident, and California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively investigating the incident.

Redding Pedestrian Collision Results in Deadly Injuries

On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, one person sadly passed away as the result of a Redding pedestrian collision. Officers with the Redding Police Department (RPD) report that the collision happened in the evening at the intersection of two major roadways and involved a single car in addition to the pedestrian. At this time, Shasta County authorities are still withholding the name and information of the decedent pending her family’s notification.

Rural Bay Area Collision Fatally Injures Vallejo Resident

On Wednesday, February 24, 2021, a Vallejo resident suffered fatal injuries as the result of a car accident that happened on a rural road in the Bay Area. Local California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers report that the accident involved just one vehicle and that no other individuals were inside of the car at the time of the crash. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department has not released the name of the decedent, but identified him as a 64-year-old man from Vallejo.

Three Fatally Injured in Oroville Auto Accident

On Monday, February 22, 2021, three people sadly lost their lives in an Oroville auto accident. The incident was reported by the Oroville Police Department (OPD), who stated that it happened in the early afternoon and involved two passenger vehicles. At this time, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office is withholding the identities of all three decedents pending the notification of their families. Additionally, a fourth individual was hospitalized as a result of the crash.

One Loses Life After Woodland Pedestrian Collision

On Friday, February 19, 2021, one person tragically passed away after being involved in a Woodland pedestrian collision. The collision reportedly happened on a local highway at night, and it involved a single car in addition to the pedestrian. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office is currently withholding the identity of the decedent while in the process of notifying their family. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash remains under investigation at this time.

One Person Hospitalized After Fiery Auto Accident in Red Bluff

At least one person was reportedly seriously hurt after a fiery collision in Red Bluff on Friday, February 19, 2021. This accident was reported through California Highway Patrol (CHP), and officers indicated that it was a solo-vehicle crash. The number of people inside of the vehicle during the incident was not reported, and updates and the cause of the collision is currently under investigation.

Accident on Garden Highway Occurs When Vehicle Hits a Utility Pole

A solo vehicle collision cost the life of a Sacramento man, age 26, on February 17, when his vehicle collided with a utility pole. The accident happened on Garden Highway eastbound close to Powerline Road around 9:00 at night. According to the North Sacramento office of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver was in a Honda Accord and apparently lost control for an as yet unknown reason. The driver was declared deceased at the scene.

Exit Ramp Accident Claims Life of Elderly Driver

An accident fatality happened in North Highlands on February 18 following a single-vehicle crash. The man was in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup heading west on I-80 and entered the exit ramp for Longview at around 8:40 a.m. when his vehicle collided with a guardrail and signpost that was overhead, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The deceased man was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Ellsworth Rudy, a resident of Rio Linda, age 82. 

Rio Linda Boulevard Accident Claims Life of Motorcyclist and Uber Driver

A double fatality accident occurred in the Del Paso Heights area of North Sacramento on February 19 when an Uber ride-share vehicle and motorcycle collided at a local intersection. The Del Paso Heights accident happened shortly before 8:30 at night at Rio Linda Boulevard, where it intersects with South Avenue. According to a report by the Sacramento Police Department, law enforcement and first responders with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to find the male motorcyclist had expired at the accident site. 

Deadly Injuries Suffered During Woodland Area Highway Crash

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, one person sadly lost her life as the result of a Woodland area highway crash. According to the Yolo area California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash was a solo-vehicle accident and happened in the morning. The decedent was identified as a woman from Antelope, but county officials are currently withholding her name. The incident remains under active CHP investigation.
