Fatal Head-On Collision near Brentwood

A woman was killed during the early morning hours of December 21, 2019, after a fatal head-on accident near Brentwood, CA. The woman had been driving her 2019 Nissan sedan northbound on Vasco Road, just south of Camino Diablo, when she was involved in a head-on collision with a southbound 2007 Acura SUV around 3:00 a.m. The driver of the SUV, identified as a 34-year-old East Palo Alto woman, was injured and had to be transferred to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for evaluation and treatment. Sadly, the driver of the Nissan passed away at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 44-year-old Tina Ha of Discovery Bay.

Fatal Triple Vehicle Crash Near Redding

On Saturday, December 21, 2019, a triple vehicle crash near Redding cost one person their life. The accident happened in the late morning on Highway 44 and left two additional individuals with injuries requiring hospital care. The identity of the decedent is being withheld by Shasta County Sheriff’s Department officials while they are in the process of notifying the person’s family. According to reports, the accident is under an active California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation.

Man Killed in Ceres Head-On Collision

A man was killed, and a woman was injured in a head-on collision between Keyes and Ceres, CA on the morning of December 22, 2019. The car accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on Faith Home Road near Service Road. A Honda and a Chevrolet collided head-on in the area, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The Chevrolet driver suffered minor injuries, while the Honda driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Sadly, the driver of the Honda was later pronounced deceased during hospitalization. Officials have identified the decedent as 50-year-old Greg McAbee of Ceres. A GoFundMe page has been established by the family of Mr. McAbee to help cover his funeral expenses.

Pedestrian Killed While Crossing Lanes of Highway 99

A pedestrian accident fatality happened on Highway 99 on December 23, 2019, at 6:20 in the evening just north of Mack Road in South Sacramento. According to a representative of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a man was attempting to cross lanes on Highway 99 south when the accident occurred. The driver of a Dodge pickup that hit the pedestrian in the number two lane and remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the site of the pedestrian accident. Officials have identified the deceased as 39-year-old David McKenzie.

Former Modesto City Councilman Killed in Manteca Crash

A former Modesto City Councilman was killed in a crash near Manteca on the afternoon of December 16, 2019. The truck accident occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. on eastbound Highway 120 just west of Highway 99. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Stockton-Area office reported that a man driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer reportedly failed to slow for traffic conditions and rear-ended a Chevrolet pickup and a Dodge SUV. The driver of the Dodge and two passengers riding in that SUV were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Freightliner driver also suffered minor injuries but declined medical transport. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, he was later pronounced deceased during hospitalization. The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as 53-year-old Dave Lopez, a former councilman for the city of Modesto.

Teen Injured During Redding Hit-and-Run

On Friday, December 13, 2019, a teen boy was hurt during a Redding hit-and-run collision. The accident happened in the afternoon and left the teen with serious injuries requiring treatment at an area hospital. Redding Police Department (RPD) officials say that they are currently searching for the missing driver and vehicle.

Fatal Woodland Area Pedestrian Crash

On Tuesday, December 17, 2019, one person tragically passed away in a Woodland area pedestrian crash. According to information from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash happened in a rural area west of Woodland in the very early morning. Yolo County Sheriff’s Office authorities have identified the decedent as 59-year-old Mark Anthony Thibault.

School Bus Driver Falls Asleep at the Wheel 

A San Juan Unified District school bus made what could have been a life-threatening journey on Monday, December 16, when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The bus was traveling eastbound on Tupelo Drive in the vicinity of Andrea Boulevard when it hit several objects before crashing into a home. According to investigators with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) at the scene, the school bus also struck a car that was parked as well as a telecommunications box. The bus was empty except for the driver, and no injuries were reported. Damage to the garage was reported. There was no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved. 

Grandmother Killed in Stockton Hit and Run Accident

A Stockton grandmother was killed in a hit and run accident while walking to church on the night of December 12, 2019. The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Benjamin Holt Drive in the vicinity of Leesburg Place and Pershing Avenue in Stockton. An elderly woman was on her way to the Presentation Catholic Church to attend a mass in memory of her late mother’s birthday. She was attempting to cross West Benjamin Holt Drive when a driver of a pickup truck crashed into her and reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid. Sadly, she passed away at the scene. Officials from the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office have identified the decedent as 71-year-old Trinidad Avalos Cornelio of Stockton.

Bicyclist Dies After Yuba City Hit-and-Run Crash

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, an elderly man lost his life in a Yuba City hit-and-run crash. The 77-year-old man has not yet been identified by authorities of the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office as his family is still being notified about the incident. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the man had been riding his bicycle in the early morning on the northern edge of the city when he was struck by a vehicle that immediately drove away from the scene. Police are still looking for the missing driver and vehicle.
