A Sacramento traffic fatality occurred along Highway 50 following a chain-reaction crash on February 18. The accident happened around 1:00 in the afternoon close to Harbor Boulevard in West Sacramento when a Tesla collided with a 2019 Ford. The Ford had stopped in the fast lane because of heavy traffic, according to the report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The initial collision caused the Ford to hit a 2016 GMC. The fourth vehicle in the Sacramento traffic fatality accident was unidentified. The CHP reported that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been a factor in the crash. Carmichael Intersection Collision Hospitalizes One Person
On February 17, a Carmichael intersection collision occurred at Whitney and Garfield avenues that resulted in at least one person being hospitalized. The accident was reported to have occurred at around 7:46 in the morning between a black Acura, green Ford Escape and gray Toyota. Personnel with the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene to help out and assess the injuries.
Riverbank DUI Accident Fatality
A Riverbank DUI accident fatality occurred on the night of February 13 along Claribel Road just east of Langworth Road. The driver of a disabled 2016 Ford F-150 pickup truck, a 23-year-old Portola man, had his hazard lights on to alert oncoming traffic. A 1982 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 56-year-old Salida man was approaching the Ford and reportedly failed to notice the pickup. The Chevrolet struck the Ford, veered off the road and crashed into a ditch along Claribel Road. The impact of the collision caused severe damage to the cab of the Chevrolet. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were both transported to local hospitals for treatment. Sadly, the passenger succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization. Officials have identified the decedent as Robert Dale Rodgers, a 64-year-old Salida man. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Mr. Rodgers in their time of loss and sorrow.
Stockton Hit and Run Pedestrian Fatality
A Stockton hit and run pedestrian fatality occurred on the night of February 12 along Interstate 5, just north of Pershing Avenue. A person was reportedly walking along the interstate in the No. 3 lane when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Investigators from CHP said the driver of the car did not contact law enforcement or stop following the incident. Sadly, the pedestrian involved in the accident succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 42-year-old September Escobar of Stockton. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of Ms. Escobar during this difficult time.
Modesto Accident Fatally Injures Elderly Woman
An elderly woman passed away on the morning of February 11 after being struck by an oncoming vehicle in north Modesto. The incident occurred along Standiford Avenue in the vicinity of Polaris Street at around 9:00 in the morning. An elderly woman driving a Chevrolet Malibu pulled her vehicle over to the right side of the road. For unknown reasons, the woman exited her car and was standing next to her open driver’s side door. One vehicle approaching the Chevrolet was able to move over in time to avoid a collision. A second car, identified as a Nissan Rogue, was unable to stop and collided with the elderly pedestrian. Sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 76-year-old Paula Matos of Modesto. I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Ms. Matos while they are grieving their tragic loss.
Two Identified after Fatal Highway 70 Crash
On Friday, February 1, 2019, authorities of Yuba County released the identities of two people who lost their lives in a recent area car accident. The two decedents were identified as Roberto Gomez Ledesma III, a 33-year-old man from Marysville, and Lillian Rosemaria Leal, a 37-year-old from Linda. The accident happened on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, and involved two vehicles. The collision also left two other individuals with serious injuries. Their conditions have not yet been reported by hospital staff. I’d like to extend my sympathy and support to the loved ones of Mr. Ledesma and Ms. Leal after this tragic incident.
Tracy Rollover Accident Fatality
A Tracy rollover accident fatality occurred on the afternoon of January 21 near the Deuel Vocational Institution. The incident happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. along Kasson Road and West Lorentzen Road, just south of the state prison. A man driving a small sedan was involved in a rollover accident along the rural road. A passerby contacted emergency personnel to the scene. Upon arrival, medical responders performed life-saving measures on the injured party until officials declared him deceased. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office has identified the decedent as 42-year-old Terry Fox. My thoughts and condolences are with the friends and family of Mr. Fox while they are grieving the loss of their loved one.
Elk Grove Man Dies in Yuba City Area Collision
Police reported a fatal crash in Sutter County on Monday, January 21, 2019. The accident left one person with fatal injuries. The man was identified as a 22-year-old from the city of Elk Grove. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash involved only one vehicle and happened at night a day earlier in an unincorporated area of the county. The man’s full identity has not been released pending his family’s notification, and CHP says they are investigating the crash. I would like to send my condolences to the fatally injured man’s family and friends while they are mourning their tragic loss.
Fatal Single Vehicle Accident on SR 99
On January 17, a fatal single-vehicle car accident along State Route 99 southbound caused an SUV to flip over three times, where it ended up laying on the driver’s side. The crash, which occurred shortly after 1:00 in the afternoon where SR 99 connects with Fruitridge Road, blocked a number of lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene to evaluate those who were in the vehicle, and an ambulance was required for at least one of those persons. It is unknown at this time what caused the vehicle to go out of control or who died in the crash. The fatal single-vehicle accident will be investigated by the CHP to determine the cause. An Elk Grove big rig accident happened along State Route 99 northbound on January 15 shortly after 7:30 p.m. when a driver, attempting to flee a previous accident scene, was struck again by the semi. According to the report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the initial accident occurred when a hatchback collided with a black Acura. The Acura was along the right-hand side of the road, and the hatchback was in the center divide.
