Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on Watt Avenue

A hit-and-run driver caused the death of a pedestrian in the North Highlands area of Sacramento County on July 26. The fatal collision occurred on Watt and Orange Grove avenues at about 9:05 p.m. when a speeding black sedan struck a female pedestrian and fled.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that officers performed CPR on the female who was struck, and she was transported to a hospital. The female pedestrian died later. Officials have recently identified the decedent as Shanese Marielee Bradshaw, age 25. A GoFundMe page has been set up on behalf of the family to assist with funeral costs.

Authorities Seeking Vehicle and Driver in Deadly Pedestrian Accident

An investigation into the cause of the collision and search for the fleeing driver is underway by the CHP traffic accident unit. The vehicle was identified as a black Lexus with license plate number 9ELX700. Authorities say there should be evidence of damage, and the mirror on the right side is probably missing.

Identifying a Hit-and-Run Driver

At our law firm, we understand the trauma of losing a loved one to a hit-and-run driver, especially since it was an accident that never had to happen. In order to hold the fleeing driver accountable for the injuries they caused, we do everything in our power to locate them. There have been many cases where we have been successful, and you may also be able to get successful results. Losing a loved one is painful enough. The driver responsible for the death must be brought to justice. Furthermore, injury lawyers do not charge upfront fees. We don’t charge you anything unless we win your case.

Why Your Family Might Want to File a Wrongful Death Claim

When a family member dies due to someone else’s negligence or wrongful act, it can be devastating. In addition to the emotional pain associated with such a loss, the family may also experience financial hardship, especially if the deceased person contributed to the family’s income. In some cases, filing a wrongful death claim can help alleviate some of the financial burden associated with a wrongful death.

Wrongful Death Recoverable Damages in a Hit-and-Run

A wrongful death claim is a legal action that seeks to compensate surviving family members for the losses associated with a wrongful death. It can include compensation for:

  • Funeral and burial expenses
  • Loss of consortium (emotional support) for the surviving spouse
  • Lost wages and benefits the decedent would have earned until retirement
  • The loss of nurturing and support the children would have received had their parent lived
  • Loss of household services
  • Loss of inheritance

Filing a wrongful death claim can also hold the responsible party accountable for their actions, which helps bring closure to the family.

Fatalities Covered by Uninsured/Underinsured Auto Policies

It may be necessary to use the deceased person’s uninsured/underinsured auto policy if the hit-and-run driver isn’t located. A family member’s policy can be used instead if the injured party does not have this policy. Future policy rates won’t be affected by it. An attorney can help you with this to recover the most compensation.
