Sanger Man Killed After Fresno County DUI Accident

A Sanger man was killed, and a woman was arrested on DUI charges after a pedestrian accident in Fresno County on the night of February 21, 2020. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at Academy Avenue and 8th Street in Sanger. A man was in a crosswalk at the intersection when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by a 44-year-old woman, the Sanger Police Department reported. Emergency crews responding to the scene transported the injured man, 71-year-old David Pinedo of Sanger, to an area hospital for treatment. Sadly, Mr. Pinedo succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization. The driver stayed at the scene and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. It is unknown whether she will face additional charges for the fatal auto-pedestrian accident.

Passenger Killed After Fresno County Car Accident

A passenger was killed, and three others were injured after a car accident in Fresno County on the morning of February 20, 2020. The crash involved two vehicles and occurred at the intersection of Zediker Avenue and Dinuba Avenue near Parlier, CA. One of the drivers reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck on the front passenger side by another car, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Both vehicles sustained severe damage. A total of three parties, including the driver and two passengers of the car that was broadsided, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of moderate to serious injuries. Sadly, one of the passengers, a 56-year-old woman, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Officials have withheld her identity until her family has been notified.

Two Teens Killed After Car Accident in Clovis

Two teens were killed after a car accident in Clovis, CA, on the night of February 7, 2020. The crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. in the area of Bullard Avenue and Armstrong Avenue, according to the Clovis Police Department. A 16-year-old student from Clovis High School and a 17-year-old student from Gateway High School were driving together in a 2001 BMW 3 series. For unknown reasons, the BMW reportedly collided with a tree. The BMW was severely damaged, and both teens inside the car were pinned in, police said. Sadly, they were pronounced deceased at the scene upon arrival of American Ambulance and Clovis Fire Department officials. Woman Killed After Fresno Hit and Run Accident

A woman was killed after a hit and run accident in northeast Fresno, CA, on the night of January 18, 2020. The incident occurred in the area of Shaw Road and Cedar Avenue near California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). A woman attempted to cross the street to get McDonald’s for her family when she was hit by an oncoming vehicle, according to the Fresno Police Department. The impact caused her to fall on the pavement, where she was struck by a second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle called 911 and was cooperative during the investigation. However, the driver of the second car fled the scene, leaving a piece of the car behind. Investigators used the wheel well and right front bumper to identify the suspect vehicle as a gold Honda. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as Laura Bryant, 56, of Fresno.

Driver Arrested After Fatal Hit and Run in Fresno

A driver was arrested after a fatal hit and run accident in northeast Fresno on January 8, 2020. The incident occurred shortly after midnight near the intersection of Bullard Avenue and Fresno Avenue. The Fresno Police Department responded to a call of a bicycle accident in the area. When police arrived, the cyclist was hit by a car driven by a 47-year-old man who reportedly fled the scene. The injured cyclist, identified as a man in his mid to late 30s, was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, where he later passed away. Officials have identified the decedent as 39-year-old Jesus Echeverria of Fresno. Officers detained the suspect driver shortly after the crash and charged him with vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.

Man Killed in Southeast Fresno Hit and Run Accident

A man was killed in a hit and run accident in southeast Fresno on the early morning of December 26, 2019. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 3:00 a.m. on East Church Avenue and Golden State Boulevard. A witness informed the Fresno Police Department that they had seen a Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound on Golden State Boulevard when it struck a man who was crossing the street. The witness said the driver of the Chevrolet slowed down after the collision but reportedly did not stop to render aid. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He has been identified by officials as Jesse Lazalde, 25, of Fresno. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Mr. Lazalde’s family to help cover his final resting expenses.

Woman Killed in Tulare County Head-On Collision

A Fresno woman was killed, and five others were injured in a head-on collision in Tulare County on the morning of December 26, 2019. The car accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on Avenue 384 near Monson Drive, just southeast of Dinuba, CA. A Kia Soul was traveling westbound on Avenue 384 when it reportedly entered the oncoming traffic lane and crashed head-on with a Chevrolet Astro van, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The driver of the Kia, identified as a 33-year-old Oakland man, was taken via air ambulance to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia for treatment of serious injuries. He was the sole occupant of his vehicle at the time of the crash. The Chevrolet driver and all four of his female passengers, all five identified as residents of Fresno, were also transported to Kaweah Delta for treatment. Sadly, a woman who was sitting in the rear passenger seat of the Chevrolet succumbed to her injuries. Family members have identified the decedent as 59-year-old Caroline Fernandez of Fresno.

Man Killed in Highway 180 Car Accident

A man was killed in a recent car accident on Highway 180 in Fresno, CA. The collision occurred along the eastbound lanes of Highway 180 near Peach Avenue. A westbound Toyota Sienna was reportedly involved in a head-on collision with an eastbound Toyota Tundra, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Medical assistance was requested at the scene of the car wreck. The driver of the Toyota Tundra, identified as a 32-year-old man, was pinned inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Sadly, the driver of the Toyota Sienna was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. Officials have identified the decedent as 33-year-old Christopher Her of Fresno.

Pedestrian Identified in Fatal Highway 168 Accident

Officials have recently identified a pedestrian who was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 168 in Fresno. The decedent, 23-year-old Marshall Fuller of Clovis, was reportedly walking along the westbound lanes of the highway when he was hit by an oncoming blue Hyundai Elantra. Officials were called to the scene of the pedestrian accident and issued a highway closure for the westbound lanes to conduct an investigation. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), it was raining at the time of the incident, which may have made it difficult for the Hyundai driver to see the man walking on the road.

The incident occurred on Floral Avenue around 10:30 p.m. A 49-year-old woman was driving in the area when her vehicle struck a woman walking along the edge of the roadway. Sadly, the pedestrian passed away from her injuries. Her identity has been withheld by officials until her next-of-kin has been notified.
