Vasco Road Crash Kills Brentwood Man

One person tragically lost his life during a Vasco Road crash that occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2020. The decedent has since been identified by authorities of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office as Gilbert Chang, a 48-year-old Brentwood man, and interventional cardiologist at John Muir Health. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Dr. Gilbert Chang’s family to help cover his final resting expenses.

Brentwood Man Dies in Triple-Vehicle Collision

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, a Brentwood man tragically passed away after suffering injuries in an area auto accident. The man has since been identified by Contra Costa County authorities as 27-year-old Brian Shuck. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the accident happened in the afternoon between Oakley and Concord and involved three vehicles. In addition to Shuck, two other people suffered trauma as a result of the crash.

Brentwood Man Fatally Injured in Semi Truck Crash

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, a one-person sadly passed away after an accident on Highway Interstate 680. The decedent has been identified by officials of the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office as Anthony Wilson, a 64-year-old Brentwood man. According to details reported by California Highway Patrol (CHP), Wilson had been driving a big-rig at the time of the accident. Additionally, the crash is still under CHP investigation.

Brentwood Accident Kills One

One person tragically passed away during a Brentwood accident that took place on Saturday, February 15, 2020. According to reports from the Brentwood Police Department (BPD), the accident involved one vehicle and happened in the early evening. The decedent’s identity is currently being withheld by Contra Costa County officials. However, police did report that the decedent was a 23-year-old man from Brentwood. The collision remains under investigation.

Fatal Head-On Collision near Brentwood

A woman was killed during the early morning hours of December 21, 2019, after a fatal head-on accident near Brentwood, CA. The woman had been driving her 2019 Nissan sedan northbound on Vasco Road, just south of Camino Diablo, when she was involved in a head-on collision with a southbound 2007 Acura SUV around 3:00 a.m. The driver of the SUV, identified as a 34-year-old East Palo Alto woman, was injured and had to be transferred to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for evaluation and treatment. Sadly, the driver of the Nissan passed away at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 44-year-old Tina Ha of Discovery Bay.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Livermore

A Discovery Bay man was recently killed in a motorcycle accident near Livermore, CA. The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Thomas Roach. The accident happened at about 6:30 pm along S. Vasco Road at Westgate Drive. Livermore police sergeant Steven Goard said the accident involved a passenger vehicle that was being driven by an unidentified 39-year old Livermore resident. Livermore PD is investigating the accident. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved. Traffic investigators from Livermore Police’s unit are calling for public assistance in finding eyewitnesses to the collision. Elderly Woman Killed in Big Rig Accident 

Authorities are investigating a midday accident involving two vehicles in Brentwood that resulted in one fatality on Thursday, September 5. The major injury accident blocked off one lane at the intersection of eastbound Highway 4 and westbound Balfour Road on-ramp, said officials. It was approximately 12:10 p.m. that afternoon when emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene of the collision, which reportedly involved a semi-truck and a red Mercedes sedan. The affected section of Balfour Road was temporarily shut down for investigation and did not reopen until roughly four hours later.

Brentwood Man Killed in Head-On Crash 

Last week, local authorities were able to identify the man who died in a three-vehicle accident in Brentwood on Balfour Road on Sunday, August 25. Victor Torres, a 70-year-old from Brentwood, died after reportedly colliding into a car during an attempt to pass another vehicle. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s office was able to confirm Torres’s identity in the days following the crash. No other significant injuries were reported.

New Regulations on Headlight Safety 

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is currently writing rules to establish new standards regarding headlight safety. People are eagerly awaiting these new regulations, which will improve drivers visibility in the dark. It is just a matter of time until automakers and consumers receive the rules that will legalize the car technology in the United States. The technology required to construct higher-quality headlights is already accessible in other parts of the world, such as Europe and Canada. In addition to the advancements made in lighting technology, the NHTSA is implementing stricter testing procedures for car manufacturers.

One Fatality Reported in Brentwood DUI Crash

A 46-year-old man from Concord has been arrested earlier this month on suspicion of a felony DUI  after a head-on accident that left one man dead. Highway 4 was forcibly closed for over an hour, according to authorities. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has revealed the identity of the deceased male as 51-year Jose Munoz-Padilla of Ripon.
