Two Hospitalized After Crash in Stanislaus County
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), two parties were hospitalized after a crash in Stanislaus County on the night of Saturday, May 15, 2021. The incident occurred shortly after 11:50 p.m. on Geer Road near Santa Fe Avenue between the Turlock and Hughson areas.
Pedestrian Killed in Fatal Crash South of Turlock
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian just south of the Turlock area. The deadly pedestrian accident occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. in the area of Golden State Boulevard and Griffith Avenue in Merced County near the Stanislaus County line. According to the CHP, a Toyota truck driver contacted officials after striking a 27-year-old man who had exited his vehicle after being involved in an unrelated property damage collision. About two minutes later, a driver of another car, a Honda Accord, also reported crashing into the same pedestrian. Officers from the Merced area CHP traffic office responded to the scene of the car vs. pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identity has been withheld by authorities until their family members have been notified.
One Killed in Turlock Car Accident
One person was killed, and another was injured in a Turlock car accident on the early evening of July 30, 2019. The car wreck occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Walnut Road and Bradbury Road, just south of Turlock. A 2017 Toyota Camry was headed southbound on Walnut Road when it was involved in a collision with a Toyota Tacoma pickup. A preliminary report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) suggested that the front of the Tacoma collided with the driver’s side of the Camry. Both vehicles were propelled into a metal cable fence and wood post. The Camry continued for a short time and crashed into an almond tree. The driver of the Tacoma, a 58-year-old Hughson woman, was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Sadly, the Camry driver, a 42-year-old Turlock man, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The identity of the decedent has been withheld by officials due to pending notification of their family members. Six Injured in Turlock Ambulance Crash
Six people were injured in a Turlock ambulance crash on the night of July 25, 2019. The car accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Monte Vista Avenue and North Golden State Boulevard. The Turlock Police Department said an ambulance was transporting a cyclist to the hospital after being struck by a car at Olive Avenue and Hawkeye Avenue. For unknown reasons, the ambulance was involved in a collision with another vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the ambulance to land on its side. Authorities reported six parties, including two firefighters, were transported to the hospital for treatment of moderate to serious injuries. Updates regarding the conditions of those injured were not immediately available.
Woman Suffered Injuries in a Pedestrian Accident
A Turlock woman was injured in an Atwater pedestrian accident on the night of July 17, 2019. The crash occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. along the right shoulder of Highway 99, just north of Applegate Road. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the 63-year-old woman was standing outside of her 2019 Nissan Versa after running out of fuel. At the same time, a 54-year-old Chowchilla man was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck along the highway in the right lane. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet reportedly veered onto the right shoulder and collided with the rear of the Nissan. This caused the woman to be hit by one of the cars. The Chevrolet continued and overturned along the shoulder. The woman was transported via air ambulance to a hospital in Modesto for treatment of a head injury and lacerations to her right arm. The Chevrolet driver was also taken to the hospital for complaints of back pain. An update regarding the conditions of those injured was not immediately available.
Turlock Bicycle Accident Injures Man
A bicycle accident near Turlock left a man with major injuries on the night of March 11, 2019. The incident occurred along Greenway Avenue in the vicinity of Lander Avenue, just south of Turlock. A man was riding his bicycle westbound along Greenway Avenue shortly before 6:00 in the evening. At the same time, a big rig was traveling north along Lander Avenue at an estimated speed of 15 mph. The trucker reportedly saw the cyclist near the intersection, braked, and turned to the left to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, his efforts were unsuccessful as the large truck collided with the cyclist. The man riding the bike suffered serious injuries and was transported via ambulance to a hospital in Modesto. An update regarding his condition has not yet been released by officials.
Car Accident Fatally Injures Turlock Man
A car accident in Stanislaus County claimed the life of a Turlock man on March 2, 2019. The incident occurred along the northbound lanes of Highway 99 in the vicinity of Hatch Road, just south of Modesto. A Toyota Prius was traveling northbound along the last lane of the highway. At the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound in the middle lane. The Toyota reportedly drove through standing water along the roadway, lost control, and veered to the right. The right front of the Toyota then struck the left rear of the Chevrolet. The impact of the collision caused the Chevrolet to drift off the roadway, overturn through a chain-link fence, and come to a stop in an open field. The two occupants of the Toyota were uninjured in the crash. Sadly, the Chevrolet driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 41-year-old Ernest Toste Costa Jr. of Turlock. I would like to send my sincere thoughts and condolences to the friends and family of the decedent in their time of grief.
Turlock Auto Accident Injures Two
Two parties suffered serious injuries in an auto accident just southwest of Turlock on February 22, 2019. The incident occurred shortly before 4:00 in the afternoon at the intersection of West Harding Road and South Washington Road. A Delhi man driving a 2010 Toyota Tundra was heading west on Harding Road when he stopped at the intersection. A Newman woman driving a 2012 Honda Civic was traveling north along Washington Road and had the right of way, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). As the Honda approached the intersection, the Toyota entered the intersection in the direct path of the Honda. The Honda driver was unable to avoid a collision and struck the Toyota. Medical personnel responding to the scene transported the two drivers to the Doctors Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries described as major. Details on their conditions were not immediately available.
Turlock Hit and Run Injures Woman
A hit and run accident in Turlock left a woman with life-threatening injuries on the night of February 12, 2019. The incident occurred at approximately 8:40 in the evening along Washington Street just south of Main Street. Officers responding to the scene found a woman suffering from serious injuries in the roadway. She was transported by medical personnel to a local hospital for treatment. An update regarding her condition has not yet been released by officials.
