Mail Carrier Injured in Big Rig Crash

On the afternoon of Friday, February 17, 2023, the California Highway Patrol reported that a mail carrier was injured in a crash involving a big rig just west of Turlock. The truck accident occurred on Crows Landing Road in the vicinity of Monte Vista Avenue shortly after 1:00 p.m., according to authorities.

Details on the Big Rig Crash That Injured a Mail Carrier

According to CHP traffic officers, a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier was delivering mail and was driving along the right shoulder of Crows Landing Road. A northbound big rig allegedly crashed into the U.S. Postal Service mail truck.

The big rig was traveling approximately 55 mph at the time of the incident, officials reported. The mail carrier was transported via air ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of serious injuries.

The big rig driver was also treated at Memorial for injuries described as minor. Officers with the California Highway Patrol secured the crash site until a representative with USPS came and gathered all the mail in the mail truck.

How a Lawyer Can Help with a Commercial Truck Accident Case

Passenger vehicles are no match for big rigs since they are overwhelming in size, weight, and momentum. With all these factors, semi-trucks may cause traumatic injuries in a crash with a passenger car. Those injuries may include broken bones, head trauma, spinal cord injuries, and more. Injured parties may require medical care and rehabilitation that may be extensive and costly. Aside from that, injured individuals may be temporarily or permanently out of work due to a big rig crash.

An experienced California truck accident lawyer can help in these situations and other important tasks. This includes identifying all at-fault parties through an independent investigation of the incident, gathering evidence before it is destroyed or lost, sending letters of preservation of evidence to the trucking company and truck driver, handling communications with insurers, and negotiating for a reasonable settlement agreement on your behalf.
