Details on the Fatal Crash on Carpenter Road and Monte Vista Avenue in Turlock

CHP traffic officers indicated in a preliminary report that the car accident in Turlock involved two vehicles described as a Chevrolet and a Nissan. The Chevrolet was traveling eastbound on Monte Vista Avenue while the Nissan was headed southbound on Carpenter Road. The left front side of the Chevrolet was allegedly struck by the right front side of the Nissan.

The impact of the collision allegedly propelled the Chevrolet and caused it to overturn several times. Both occupants of the Chevrolet were reportedly ejected from the vehicle. The Nissan driver, a 44-year-old Modesto man, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The passenger of the Chevrolet, a 25-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Sadly, the Chevrolet driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has recently identified the decedent as 33-year-old Russell Bennett of Modesto. The cause of the fatal car accident has not yet been determined by officials. However, authorities suspect alcohol or drugs as factors in the incident.

Things to Know About Car Accidents and Insurance Claims

Nothing may be more life-changing and devastating than suffering traumatic injuries or losing a loved one in a motor vehicle collision, particularly if the incident was the result of someone else’s negligence. While nothing may make up for the loss or undo the damage that has been caused, a civil case may help a claimant obtain the financial compensation and justice that they need to move forward. The process generally involves bringing a claim with the insurance company representing the at-fault party. When it has been determined that the other party has insufficient or no liability coverage, the claimants may seek recourse through their insurance plan if they carry uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage (UM and UIM).

We all expect the insurance company to do what is right and compensate those who have been injured or lost family members in devastating accidents, which does not always happen in all cases. The insurer may dispute the severity of losses incurred or liability for the incident. These tactics are often used as a way for the insurance carrier to get out fairly paying the claimant for the economic damages and non-economic damages they have experienced. When legal counsel is retained, a family may rest assured knowing that all aspects of their case will be handled accordingly.
