Details on the Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Collision in Turlock

A preliminary release indicated that a 45-year-old Merced man was riding a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Bradbury Road approaching Commons Road. The motorcyclist was traveling behind a sedan at the time of the incident. As both parties approached the intersection, the sedan driver allegedly entered the north shoulder of the roadway and reportedly made an abrupt U-turn in the direct path of the motorcycle rider.

The right side of the motorcycle was allegedly broadsided by the front of the vehicle. The impact of the crash propelled the motorcycle onto the roadway. The motorcyclist was transported via air ambulance to a Modesto area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An update regarding their condition has not yet been released.

CHP traffic officers indicated that the sedan driver reportedly left the crash site and headed eastbound on Bradbury Road. Authorities indicated that this incident has been deemed a felony hit-and-run. It is believed that the suspect vehicle is a Volkswagen Jetta that is gray or dark blue in color. It is expected to damage the front end as officials located the grill at the accident scene.

Understanding Your Rights After a Hit-and-Run Accident in California

After getting injured in a hit-and-run accident as a motorcyclist, you must know your rights following the incident. You may be entitled to specific protections and rights as an injured party. Acting quickly to protect your right to total compensation for your losses is essential. Some critical considerations after a hit-and-run accident in California are preserving evidence and tracking down the suspect driver if authorities are unsuccessful in doing so and the applicable statute of limitations for the personal injury case.

When you work with an attorney with the resources to work with a private investigator, you can rest assured that they will work to identify the at-fault party at all costs. If unsuccessful, your injury lawyer will work diligently to identify other sources of financial recovery. This includes your uninsured motorist coverage. A UM claim may compensate you for medical bills, wage loss, and other damages due to the incident. Bringing a claim through uninsured motorist protection requires clear evidence that the other party’s vehicle contacted you and that contact caused injuries and losses.

Evidence supporting an injury claim for a hit-and-run accident may be lost or destroyed as time progresses. Therefore, it is essential to collect evidence that supports the other side’s negligence, liability and the resulting losses following the crash. This includes video surveillance footage, eyewitness accounts, police reports, medical records, photos of the crash site, and more. Remember that time is of the essence in these matters, as a two-year deadline generally applies. It is best to work with an experienced attorney to ensure that all filing deadlines and criteria are met in your case.
