Second Fatal Accident Involving Bicyclist Reported in Two Days

A second garbage truck accident fatality occurred in Northern California in two days. The accident happened on May 25 at the Dairy Road intersection with Hutchison Drive around 8:00 a.m. when a student at UC Davis was killed after a garbage truck struck her while she was riding her bike, according to school officials. The bicycle rider was transported to a hospital, where she died. Officials have recently identified the decedent as a 19-year-old woman and Freshman at UC Davis.

Pedestrian Killed by Train While Walking on the Tracks

A pedestrian fatality occurred near Davis on May 3 after they were struck by an Amtrak train. The accident, according to a spokesman for the Davis Police Department, happened near Second Street at about 7:30 a.m. as the pedestrian walked on the tracks. Investigators with Amtrak are holding the investigation into the fatality since it occurred on railroad property. 

Davis Hit-and-Run Crash Causes Fatal Trauma

One person lost his life on Sunday, January 3, 2021, after being involved in a Davis hit-and-run crash. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office has since identified the decedent as Ernest Ambrose Seyfert. The collision was reported by the Davis Police Department (DPD) who stated that it took place at night on the south side of the city. The suspected driver was reportedly taken into custody the following day at an undisclosed location in Sacramento.

UC Davis Professor Emeritus Fatally Injured In Yolo County Bicycle Accident

On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, one person tragically lost her life after being injured in a Yolo County bicycle accident. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the decedent as Marilyn Olmstead, a 77-year-old professor emeritus of chemistry at UC Davis. California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that the accident involved a single vehicle and happened in rural Yolo County north of Davis.

Davis Resident Dies in Oakland Motorcycle Accident

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, a man from Davis sadly lost his life during an Oakland motorcycle accident. The individual was identified by The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department the following day as 51-year-old Davis resident Christopher Jones. According to police, the accident happened at night on an east bay highway and involved two vehicles. A California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Man Killed in Davis Auto Accident on Mace Boulevard

One person tragically lost his life during a Davis auto accident that occurred on Sunday, June 7, 2020. Officers of the Davis Police Department (DPD) reported that the crash occurred in the early morning and involved only a single passenger vehicle. In addition to the decedent, one other person suffered injuries during the accident. The decedent’s identity is being withheld by Yolo County authorities and the crash remains under police investigation.

One Dies in Davis Area Car Accident

A Davis area car accident reportedly left one person with injuries that cost him his life on Friday, September 20, 2019. The accident involved three vehicles and left one additional person with injuries. The injured individual was reportedly taken to a hospital but was not seriously hurt during the accident. The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office identified the decedent as a 64-year-old man from West Sacramento. However, his full identity is being withheld pending his family’s notification. The collision remains under active investigation by officers of California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Davis Amtrak Accident Causes Fatal Injury

On Monday, September 16, 2019, a Davis Amtrak accident reportedly caused fatal injuries. The accident involved a small passenger vehicle and an Amtrak train and took place in the afternoon. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that one man was fatally injured during the incident. The man has been identified as Richard Bruce Campbell, an 82-year-old resident of Davis. According to reports, Campell was the only person injured during the incident. The collision is under active investigation by the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.

Three Dead Following Davis Collision

Three people reportedly lost their lives after a single-vehicle accident in Davis on Friday, May 10, 2019. In addition to the three fatally injured people, one more individual suffered severe injuries during the accident. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened late at night on the southeastern edge of Davis. The fatally injured driver and passenger have not yet been identified by authorities who are in the process of notifying the decedents’ families. I’d like to extend my sympathy to those who’ve lost a friend or family member because of this tragic car accident.
