Collision Fatally Injures Davis Woman

Collision Fatally Injures Davis Woman – According to officers of the Yolo area California Highway Patrol (CHP), one woman lost her life during a car accident on Sunday, September 16, 2018. The accident reportedly took place on a rural roadway in Yolo County and only involved one vehicle. The fatally injured woman was identified by Yolo County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, as Cristina Gonzales Rios, a 36-year-old resident of Davis. The CHP has reported that they are still conducting a full investigation into what may have caused the accident.

My deep sympathy and condolences are with Gonzales Rios’ family and friends while they are mourning the loss of their loved one.

Accident Details

According to the CHP, the crash took place at around 4:10 p.m. Gonzales Rios had been driving her vehicle northbound along County Road 99 to the north of the Bullard Lane intersection a short distance northwest of Davis city limits. While she was driving, her vehicle suddenly drifted off of the roadway, causing it to overturn. After rolling, the car eventually came to a rest in a nearby cornfield. Further details about the collision have not yet been reported.

Response

The CHP sent responders to the crash site immediately after being notified by a witness. Responders reported that they found Gonzales Rios at the scene of the crash with severe trauma. Tragically, medics were not able to help her, and Gonzales Rios was declared dead on-site. Responders noted that she had been the only occupant of her vehicle and had been properly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the fatal accident.

Investigation

While the crash is under active investigation by the CHP, officers have not yet stated what factors they suspect may have been involved. Additionally, investigators have asked that anybody with information about the crash contact the non-emergency phone number for Woodland’s CHP office, (530) 662-4685.

Non-Driver Accident Causes

The majority of accidents are caused by a driver who makes a mistake. However, in some cases, an accident is caused by factors outside of a drivers’ control. Some of the more common ways that non-driver accidents are caused include malfunctioning car parts and roadway defects. In both of these cases, responsible parties can often be made to pay for accident damages in the same way that a reckless driver can.

In cases of malfunctioning car parts, the manufacturer of the part or those responsible for selling it may be liable. In cases where a roadway defect causes a crash, the government entity responsible for making sure the roadway is safe can often be liable. To learn more information about how fault can be determined after a fatal crash, you should call a Davis wrongful death lawyer.
