One Killed in Off-Road Collision in Tehama County 

On Saturday, March 8, 2020, one person tragically lost his life as the result of an off-road crash in rural Tehama County. The decedent has since been identified by county officials as Michael LaGrande, a 78-year-old man and Tehama County resident. On Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Tehama County authorities released the identities of two people who passed away in a recent Red Bluff rollover crash. The decedents were identified as 33-year-old Redding woman Kaitlin Schori and 57-year-old Red Bluff woman Kerry Fitzgerald. The accident took place a few days earlier on Sunday, October 13. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, the wreck involved one vehicle and injured two additional individuals, including a 3-year-old girl.

Red Bluff Area Crash Kills Motorcyclist, Injures Passenger

On Saturday, October 12, 2019, a Red Bluff area crash left one person with fatal injuries. The decedent was identified on Wednesday, October 17, 2019, as Anthony Keller, a 58-year-old man from Red Bluff. In addition to the decedent, one more individual suffered major injuries. The injured person was identified as 59-year-old Robin Keller, also from Red Bluff. According to police reports, the crash only involved a single vehicle and is currently being investigated by California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Red Bluff Man Identified After Fatal Crash

On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, officials of the Tehama County Sheriff’s Department released the identity of a man who tragically passed away about a week earlier due to injuries he suffered in a local car accident. The decedent was identified as Michael Lutz, a 59-year-old Red Bluff man. Police have stated that the crash took place within Red Bluff city limits and only involved a single vehicle. An official investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Red Bluff Man Identified After Oroville Accident

On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, officials of the Butte County Sheriff’s Department released the identity of a man who tragically lost his life six days earlier in a local car accident. The man was identified as James Dunn II, a 45-year-old resident of Red Bluff. The crash took place near the city of Oroville and involved three vehicles, including a commercial tree-trimming truck. Officers are still investigating the accident in order to determine what factors were involved. Tehama County Airplane Crash Kills One and Injures Two

Officers from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office have reported that one person was fatally injured during a plane crash that took place near Highway 36 on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The crash also left two additional individuals with critical injuries. So far, county officials have not released the identity of the fatally injured person. Additionally, updates on the condition of the injured individuals have not been reported by hospital staff. Red Bluff Highway Crash Kills Pedestrian

Reports from area California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers stated that one pedestrian lost his life during a car accident in Red Bluff on Friday, December 28, 2018. The collision reportedly involved only the pedestrian and a semi truck and occurred during the early morning on a major area highway. County officials have identified the fatally injured pedestrian as Kenneth Victor Scott, a 59-year-old resident of Red Bluff. The latest available information from CHP indicates that this collision remains under investigation.

What Happened?

39-year-old Christopher Nichols from Red Bluff, California was out driving on Red Bank Road, east of White Oak Road. At some time around midnight, Christopher Nichols started to drift towards the edge of the road. He continued drifting to the right and completely left the pavement. The Jeep, a 1992 Wrangler, hit a drainage ditch that ran alongside Red Bank Road. Nichols was traveling at a high enough speed that the four-wheel drive Jeep was launched into the air after hitting the ditch.
