Red Bluff Man Identified After Oroville Accident

Red Bluff Man Identified After Oroville Accident

On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, officials of the Butte County Sheriff’s Department released the identity of a man who tragically lost his life six days earlier in a local car accident. The man was identified as James Dunn II, a 45-year-old resident of Red Bluff. The crash took place near the city of Oroville and involved three vehicles, including a commercial tree-trimming truck. Officers are still investigating the accident in order to determine what factors were involved. I’d like to extend condolences to Mr. Dunn’s family and friends after they have endured such a tragic loss.

Crash Information

Officers of California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident happened on Clark Road at around 2:00 p.m. close to the intersection of Circle J Road. Dunn had been driving a blue 1993 Ford Ranger north on Clark while a 2017 Kenworth tree-trimming truck was traveling south on the same road. Reports stated that the pickup swerved left and traveled over the roadway median before sideswiping the large truck. The initial crash caused the Ranger to spin out. Eventually striking a second pickup truck, a 2016 Ford F-150, that had also been driving south on Clark.

Response

CHP sent out emergency response staff to the crash scene directly after they received notification. Medical officials arriving at the accident site found that Dunn had suffered critical injuries. Responders were not able to treat Dunn’s injuries, and he sadly lost his life at the collision scene. The driver of the tree-trimming truck reportedly suffered minor trauma. The third driver was not reported to have sustained any injuries.

Accidents Involving Commercial Vehicles

Large vehicles are usually owned by companies that aware of the risks of operating such heavy trucks on public roads. Because these companies are aware of the damage that their vehicles can cause, they are typically ready to begin defending themselves from financial liability right away. Typically, these companies will send out legal teams to accident sites in order to conduct their own investigations into the collision.

When a driver involved in an auto accident loses their life, their version of what happened is also lost. For this reason, it’s important to contact a lawyer as soon as you can. An experienced attorney will be able to conduct their own investigation into the collision, including verifying vehicle maintenance records, taking statements from witnesses, and gathering driving logs from trucking companies. By conducting an independent investigation, your attorney can help you recover fair compensation for your tragic losses through a wrongful death claim.
