Tehama County Airplane Crash Kills One and Injures Two

Officers from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office have reported that one person was fatally injured during a plane crash near Highway 36 on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The crash also left two additional individuals with critical injuries. So far, county officials have not released the identity of the fatally injured person. Additionally, hospital staff have not reported updates on the condition of the injured individuals. I would like to send out my condolences to those who’ve been affected by this terrible accident.

Crash Details

According to local authorities, the crash happened at around 11:10 a.m. Officials reported that they received notification from the Oakland Air Traffic Control that a 1976 Cessna 182-p Skylane had experienced total engine failure. The vehicle crash-landed near the eastern junction of Highways 36 and 172 in a forested area called Child’s Meadows. Pictures of the crash show that the plane landed upside-down, causing major damage to its front end. At the time of reporting, County authorities could not confirm where the plane had taken off from nor its destination. Additionally, the airplane was identified as a rental aircraft owned and operated by a company in Chico.

Response

Cal-Fire was notified about the crash at 11:16 p.m., and emergency responders were dispatched to the accident scene. When medics located the crash, they found that all three plane occupants had suffered severe trauma. One of the individuals tragically passed away due to their injuries. The other two were immediately rushed to local hospitals for emergency treatment. Reports indicated that the injured individuals were alert when responders arrived.

Investigation

As an investigation into this accident continues, the only factor that has been mentioned so far is engine failure. Plane accidents can be caused by aircraft defects, dangerous weather conditions, medical issues, and more.

Contacting an Attorney

After a fatal accident, families can be left feeling totally overwhelmed. Suddenly, losing someone you love can mean dealing with devastating grief, and dealing with these feelings often takes a long time. Grieving individuals often need time from their daily lives to process their emotions. This healing period is significant but should not keep you from calling a lawyer. Responsible parties usually don’t have to deal with grief and start taking action immediately to avoid being held accountable.

The sooner you contact a lawyer, the more capable they are of investigating the accident and ensuring that negligent parties are held responsible. Knowing that the case is in the hands of an experienced professional can also help families focus on emotional healing.
