Lake Almanor Woman Fatally Injured During Snowmobile Crash

Lake Almanor Woman Suffers Deadly Trauma During Snowmobile Crash

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, a Lake Almanor woman tragically lost her life as the result of a snowmobile crash. The incident was reported by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, who stated that it happened during the afternoon in a remote wooded area. Lassen County officials have since released the woman’s name, identifying her as 58-year-old Rhonda Noall. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and no other individuals were involved in the accident.

Accident Details

County officials stated that they received an alert from the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC) about a serious snowmobile accident in the area at around 1:30 p.m. IERCC reported that they had received emergency notifications from a GPS device indicating that a woman had been seriously injured and needed medical care. Location information from the messages informed officials that the accident happened in the Swain Mountain Snowmobile Park around 10 miles to the north of the small community of Westwood.

Response

Emergency personnel, including deputies from Lassen County, a helicopter from the Enloe Hospital in Chico, and staff from the Westwood Fire Department, were all sent to conduct emergency response. Responders had to use Forest Service roadways in order to reach the scene and required special snow vehicles due to recent heavy snowfall. When responders finally arrived at the scene, they found Noall had tragically passed away.

Investigation

While an investigation into this terrible incident continues, involved officials haven’t said what they believe could have been the cause. Frequently, accidents similar to this one happen due to vehicle parts that are defective or malfunctioning, making it impossible for drivers to avoid a collision. In these cases, the vehicle manufacturer might be considered an at-fault party.

Furthermore, investigating an accident with no witnesses or survivors can be a very difficult job for police to handle. Without testimony from the decedent or witnesses, police may never be able to fully uncover all of the relevant evidence of a case. In these situations, it is important to have help from an attorney who has experience conducting their own wrongful death case investigations. Your attorney can devote their time and resources toward making sure all of the important evidence is discovered, allowing your family to hold any at-fault parties responsible for damages.

Wrongful Death Damages

Sadly, it is impossible to truly make up for the loss of somebody that you love. However, it is often possible to obtain compensation for damages after a fatal accident by filing a wrongful death claim. The payments available through these cases can provide funds to cover lost income and other important economic damages, as well as money for your personal suffering. To learn more about the kinds of payments that your family may be able to claim, you should speak directly to a trusted attorney. For a quick overview, take a short moment to watch this video:
