A Florin Road hit-and-run occurred near Rancho Cordova on November 17, where the driver said she thought she had struck a deer, so she left the scene. The accident occurred between Eagles Nest and Excelsior roads around 7:00 a.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reportedly received a call from an individual who said his wife had been driving the previous evening and struck what she thought was a deer. The accident is under investigation by the CHP traffic collision unit. 

Pedestrian Killed in Crosswalk on Coloma Road

A pedestrian fatality accident was reported following a hit-and-run in Rancho Cordova on September 8. The collision occurred around 5:00 a.m. near McGregor Drive and Coloma Road as a woman was struck crossing the street, according to the Rancho Cordova Police Department. She died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased will not be released until the family has been notified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. No information was released about the vehicle or driver in the incident.

Hit-and-Run Driver Flees From Scene of Pedestrian Fatality

A pedestrian fatality accident recently occurred in Rancho Cordova after a woman was struck by a fleeing driver. The crash happened on southbound Sunrise Boulevard at the on-ramp that leads to Highway 50 westbound at around 2:00 a.m. Officers with the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to the call and located the abandoned vehicle at the crosswalk where the woman was walking. She had suffered serious trauma from the collision and was pronounced dead at the accident scene by medics with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. 

Accident on U.S. 50 Kills One Person and Injures Others

A traffic fatality was reported in Rancho Cordova on June 19 following a two-vehicle accident along U.S. 50. The collision occurred around 11:10 p.m. along westbound U.S. 50 just west of the Zinfandel Drive off-ramp between two vehicles, one of which was hauling a trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). One of the vehicles overturned in the collision. Drunk or drugged driving was not ruled out as a factor in the accident, and a phlebotomist was called to administer a blood test on one person.

A man has been arrested following a hit-and-run pedestrian fatality accident that occurred in Rancho Cordova back in November. The accident occurred around Trinity River Drive at Sunset Boulevard, according to a spokesperson with the Rancho Cordova Police Department. The man who is suspected of fleeing the scene of the accident was from Sacramento and is being held at the Sacramento County jail on $75,000 bail.

According to officials from the Rancho Cordova Police Department, the accident occurred on Zinfandel Drive southbound near International Drive around 7:00 p.m. A motorist who was driving south along Zinfandel struck the bicycle rider as they were trying to cross the road. 

Sunrise Boulevard Scene of Single-Vehicle Accident Fatality

An accident fatality involving a single vehicle occurred in Rancho Cordova on December 13 after the driver struck a tree. The collision occurred around 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Douglas Road. Emergency responders with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported the accident on Twitter and said the driver had to be extricated from their vehicle but died in the collision.

The accident was reported shortly after 10:00 p.m. at Trinity River Drive’s intersection with Sunrise Boulevard, which caused the death of one man. Deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to discover the driver had fled. The man was pronounced dead at the accident site by medics.
