Witnesses said that a woman was walking along Claratina Avenue when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver fled from the scene following the collision. Responding officers discovered the injured woman lying in the roadway and contacted medical personnel to render lifesaving treatments to the woman. Sadly, their efforts were unsuccessful and she passed away at the scene. Officials have identified the victim as 35-year-old Olena Gaines of Modesto.

Authorities have identified the victim as Michael Maestas, a 53-year-old resident of Modesto.

The accident took place along Rouse Avenue and AnniLane at approximately 11:30 a.m. on August 18. According to reports, the man was leaning over his bicycle and looking at something while standing alongside the road when he was hit by an oncoming Nissan sedan. The Nissan driver reportedly fled the scene following the collision, leaving the victim behind to suffer from his injuries. Emergency personnel, responding to the accident, transported the man to an area hospital for immediate treatment. An initial report had affirmed that the victim had suffered trauma to the head but was expected to survive. Unfortunately, a family member recently indicated that the victim was pronounced brain dead and passed away on the morning of August 29. Officials have identified the victim as 49-year-old Joseph Najar of Modesto.

The Toyota reportedly struck the rider at approximately 25 mph, causing the man to be ejected off his bicycle and fall along the eastbound shoulder of the road. The man was transported by emergency personnel to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Officials have withheld his identity due to a pending family notification.

The Ford driver was transported to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Officials have identified the victim as Norma Quattrin, an 86-year-old resident of Modesto.

Escalon Woman Killed in Highway 120 Crash Near Oakdale

The woman was traveling eastbound along Highway 120 in her Scion when she slowed down to turn left onto Cleveland Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. While doing so, the woman was rear-ended by a Ford which caused her vehicle to be propelled into the westbound lane in the direct path of a Chevrolet, whose driver was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision. The impact from the crash reportedly pinned the woman inside her vehicle for a short time before bystanders extricated her out of her vehicle to render emergency aid. Unfortunately, it was too late as the woman passed away at the scene due to the severity of her injuries. The victim has been identified by officials as 71-year-old Wanda Hendrickson of Escalon.
