Two people were arrested including DUI after CHP responds to illegal dumping report near South Lake Tahoe of individuals allegedly dumping trash along Highway 50 west of Highway 89 on Friday, August 14, 2026.

CHP Responds to Report of Trash Dumping

According to CHP South Lake Tahoe, officers were initially called to the area after receiving a report that individuals were dumping trash along Highway 50.

Officers contacted three individuals during their investigation and detained them while looking into the incident.

Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

During the investigation, officers determined that one of the individuals was on felony probation out of Santa Clara County.

CHP reported that the man, a Santa Clara County resident, was arrested on suspicion of violating felony probation and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

A female passenger was also arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and cocaine base.

The allegations are accusations, and those arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Authorities have not released additional information regarding the third person who was contacted or whether any charges were associated with the initial report of illegal dumping.
