Two Injured in Stanislaus County Truck Accident

Two Injured in Stanislaus County Truck Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. A truck accident east of Newman left a mother and her 4-year-old daughter with severe injuries on August 16, 2018. At approximately 1:30 in the afternoon, a 32-year-old Newman woman was driving her Saturn southbound along River Road in the vicinity of Hills Ferry Road. The woman stopped her Saturn at a stop sign and attempted to turn left at the intersection when her vehicle was broadsided by an oncoming big rig. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the large truck was traveling approximately 40 to 50 mph moments before striking the side of the Saturn. Emergency personnel at the scene transported the Saturn driver via air ambulance to the Memorial Medical Center for treatment of possible hip and leg fractures. The daughter of the Saturn driver was taken by medical helicopter to the Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera to be treated for head trauma. Officials have not yet released an update regarding the conditions of both victims.

While bicycles serve as an environmentally-friendly way of getting around the city of Modesto, riders have a higher risk of injury or death than people riding in a car due to the lack of physical protection around their bodies. To limit the risk of severe injury in a bicycle accident, it is essential for all bicyclists to exercise safety precautions while riding.

Driver and Passenger Experiences in Rollover Crashes

Driver and Passenger Experiences in Rollover Crashes

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto Personal Injury Lawyer. Different types of car accidents can happen, and one of the most worrisome types regarding injury occurrence and severity is a rollover crash. These types of accidents have been studied extensively to determine what happens inside the vehicle and how they can be prevented.

A rollover crash is a particularly serious accident where a vehicle performs one or more flips as it rolls across the road or down a hill. A car may only make a one-quarter turn onto its side, or it could make a complete rotation where it lands back on its wheels. A rollover crash can also lead to multiple rotations, creating a particularly harrowing experience for whoever is inside the vehicle. Regardless of how it happens, it typically results in substantial damage to a car and can lead to serious injuries for the occupants.

Pedestrian Accidents and the Elderly

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. Walking is sometimes the primary means of transportation for those over the age of 65. This further implies that there is a high risk of pedestrian injury and mortality among this age group. The reason why the elderly are particularly vulnerable as pedestrians is due in large to physical problems, sensory issues and difficulty in executive functioning they may experience as they age. All of these complications can become a crucial safety concern as the elderly take walks down the road. To better understand the nature of pedestrian accidents and the elderly, continue reading below.
