Man Killed in Modesto Hit and Run

A man in his 20s was killed in a Modesto hit and run accident on July 23, 2019. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. along Vivian Road in the vicinity of Service Road in south Modesto. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said a man was walking in the area when he was struck by an oncoming driver. The motorist reportedly drove away from the scene, leaving the injured man behind to succumb to his injuries. Officials have identified the decedent as 25-year-old Brian Crooks of Illinois. Woman Seriously Hurt in Bicycle Accident

A female cyclist was critically injured in a Modesto bicycle accident on the night of July 10, 2019. The bike crash occurred around 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of 5th Street and I Street in downtown Modesto. A woman was riding her bicycle in the area when she was struck by a Nissan Sentra. The impact of the collision caused serious injuries to the woman, who was transported to the hospital for treatment. Officials have not yet released additional information regarding her condition.

Mother and Baby Injured in Modesto Pedestrian Accident

A mother and her baby were injured in a Modesto pedestrian accident on the afternoon of July 9, 2019. The crash occurred shortly after 3:25 p.m. at the intersection of Tully Road and Mount Vernon Drive. First responders arrived on the scene and reported that the 23-year-old mother and her 1-year-old son were alert and conscious. The boy was transported via air ambulance to the hospital for precautionary measures. It is unknown whether the mother was also hospitalized for her injuries.

Waterford Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident

A Waterford man was killed in a recent motorcycle accident. The crash occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. along the Oakdale-Waterford Highway and Rice Road. A Denair woman was stopped for a stop sign at the intersection and was preparing to make a left turn on the highway. At the same time, a man was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle north on the roadway when the Denair woman’s SUV pulled out into his path. The motorcycle and the vehicle collided, causing the SUV to catch fire. The woman was able to exit her car on her own and was treated at a Modesto hospital for moderate injuries. Sadly, the motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have identified the biker as 38-year-old Thomas Butler of Waterford. Two Teenagers Injured in Modesto Rollover

Two teenagers were hospitalized following a rollover accident that took place near Modesto High School on Thursday, June 27, 2019. The accident involved two vehicles and happened in the afternoon. Updates from medical staff at the hospital indicated that neither of the teens suffered life-threatening trauma. However, specific information about their injuries was unavailable at the time of reporting. Officials of the Modesto Police Department (MPD) have reported that they are currently investigating this incident in order to determine what factors were involved.

Two Teens Injured in Modesto Reservoir Boat Accident

Two teens were injured in a Modesto Reservoir boat accident on the afternoon of June 22, 2019. The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. and involved two girls, ages 14 and 15. The two teenagers were riding together on a jet ski in the Modesto Reservoir when they were involved in a collision with a motorboat. The 14-year-old girl suffered bone fractures but is expected to recover. The 15-year-old was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Officials have not yet released updates regarding the conditions of the girls injured in the boat accident.

Two Killed in Modesto Taco Truck Crash

Two people were killed in a Modesto taco truck crash on the early morning of June 15, 2019. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of D Street and 14th Street. Officers from the Modesto Police Department ran the plates of a vehicle near Lakewood Avenue and Briggsmore Avenue. The car was reported as stolen out of the Bay Area. After police attempted to pull the driver over, the motorist drove away. The pursuit continued for a short time until the driver reached Yosemite Boulevard and crashed into a carport for a mobile food truck, Tacos Vallarta. Sadly, two people were hit by the vehicle at Tacos Vallarta and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have identified the decedents as 32-year-old Melchor Leyva Fong and 31-year-old Pedro “Peter” Gil, both residents of Modesto. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Mr. Leyva Fong and Mr. Gil in their time of loss.

Child Injured in Modesto Bicycle Accident

A child was injured in a Modesto bicycle accident on the evening of June 3, 2019. The bike crash occurred shortly before 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of High Street and Redwood Avenue near downtown Modesto. A 12-year-old boy was riding his bike eastbound along Redwood Avenue when he was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram that was headed north on High Street. The child was transported via air ambulance to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento for treatment of serious injuries. Officials have said he has remained in critical condition but is expected to survive.
