Four Injured After Car Accident in Downtown Modesto

Four people, including a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer, were injured after a recent car accident in downtown Modesto, CA. The motor vehicle collision occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of H Street and Sixth Street. A 2018 Hyundai sedan and a 2015 Honda SUV were both headed northbound on 6th Street, approaching the intersection. At the same time, a CHP officer in a patrol vehicle was driving westbound on H Street, also approaching the intersection. All three cars entered the intersection. The fronts of both the Hyundai and the Honda collided with the driver’s side of the CHP vehicle. An investigation by the CHP has not yet determined whether the Hyundai and Honda or the CHP officer had the green light. However, a witness to the accident informed a local news outlet that the CHP officer ran a red light. The drivers of the Hyundai and the Honda, as well as a passenger in the Hyundai, all suffered minor injuries. The passenger received treatment at the scene while the motorists were transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. The CHP officer was transported to Doctors Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. An update regarding their conditions has not yet been released by authorities.

Three Injured After DUI Hit and Run in Modesto

Three people were injured after a hit and run accident caused by DUI in Modesto, CA, on the evening of May 9, 2020. The car accident occurred at Granger Avenue and College Avenue, according to a report by the Modesto Police Department (Modesto PD). The incident involved two vehicles described as a black Honda and a blue pickup truck. The impact of the collision reportedly propelled the truck into a traffic signal pole, which was knocked down. The driver of the pickup, a 22-year-old woman, was pinned in her vehicle and extricated by emergency crews using hydraulic tools. She suffered major injuries described as non-life-threatening and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The woman’s two passengers, ages 7 and 11, were also taken to the hospital as a precaution. The driver of the Honda, a 23-year-old Modesto man, allegedly fled the scene on foot. He was located approximately a block away from the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving on a revoked or suspended license because of DUI, DUI causing injury, and hit and run. Officials also said he is a repeat DUI offender and has a current case for driving on a revoked or suspended driver’s license and drunk driving in the Stanislaus County Superior Court system. It is unknown whether he will face additional charges related to the traffic collision.

Pedestrian Injured After Modesto Hit and Run

A pedestrian was injured after a hit and run accident in Modesto, CA, on the morning of May 4, 2020. The pedestrian accident occurred around 8:10 a.m. at Church Lane and Atlantic Drive. A 62-year-old Grayson resident was standing along the shoulder of the roadway. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian was involved in a collision with an oncoming 2008 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle. The impact propelled the motorcyclist off his bike as it continued north before coming to a stop along the east shoulder of the road, the CHP said. The motorcycle rider was transported by ground ambulance to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of abrasions to the right leg and a possible ankle fracture. The pedestrian was believed to have fractured both of his ankles. He was transported via air ambulance to Doctors Medical Center for treatment. Updates, including the cause of the collision and the conditions of the injured parties, were not immediately available.

Multi-Vehicle Accident on Claribel Road in Modesto

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a multi-vehicle accident on Claribel Road in Modesto resulted in injuries to at least one party on April 10, 2020. The car accident occurred shortly after 7:50 a.m. at Terminal Avenue and Claribel Road. At least one person was injured in the crash and was transported by American Medical Response via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Woman Killed After Modesto Pedestrian Accident

A woman, whose identity has been withheld by officials due to pending notification of family members, was crossing Kern Avenue at the intersection. A driver of a GMC Yukon SUV was headed westbound on Yosemite Blvd. and attempted to turn left onto Kern Ave when they reportedly crashed into the woman. She was transported to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The cause of the incident has not yet been disclosed by the Modesto Police Department due to ongoing investigation.

Two Killed After Truck Accident in Stanislaus County

Two Crows Landing residents were killed after a recent truck accident in Stanislaus County. The incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. on Highway 132 near Hart Road, just west of Modesto. A Volvo was headed south on Hart Road while a big rig was traveling west on SR-132, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). For unknown reasons, the Volvo was broadsided by the big rig at the intersection. Both vehicles came to a rest in a field near the intersection. The driver of the large truck, a 39-year-old Tracy resident, was uninjured in the collision. Sadly, the driver and passenger of the Volvo both passed away at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedents as 22-year-old Damian Avina and 28-year-old Luis Gariba-Avina, both residents of Crows Landing. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of the Avina family to help cover both of their loved one’s funeral and burial services.

Two Injured After Hit and Run Accident in Modesto

Two cyclists were injured after a hit and run accident in Modesto, CA, on the early morning of January 8, 2020. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. along the 2800 block of Yosemite Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. A man was riding a bicycle with a bike trailer in the area when he was hit by a 2013 to 2016 Nissan Sentra. According to the Modesto Police Department, the driver of the Nissan reportedly fled the scene after the bicycle accident. The man was transported to the hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. A passenger in the man’s bike trailer suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized. An update regarding their health has not yet been released by officials.
