Two teens were injured in a Modesto Reservoir boat accident on the afternoon of June 22, 2019. The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. and involved two girls, ages 14 and 15. The two teenagers were riding together on a jet ski in the Modesto Reservoir when they were involved in a collision with a motorboat. The 14-year-old girl suffered bone fractures but is expected to recover. The 15-year-old was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Officials have not yet released updates regarding the conditions of the girls injured in the boat accident.

Two Killed in Modesto Taco Truck Crash

Two people were killed in a Modesto taco truck crash on the early morning of June 15, 2019. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of D Street and 14th Street. Officers from the Modesto Police Department ran the plates of a vehicle near Lakewood Avenue and Briggsmore Avenue. The car was reported as stolen out of the Bay Area. After police attempted to pull the driver over, the motorist drove away. The pursuit continued for a short time until the driver reached Yosemite Boulevard and crashed into a carport for a mobile food truck, Tacos Vallarta. Sadly, two people were hit by the vehicle at Tacos Vallarta and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have identified the decedents as 32-year-old Melchor Leyva Fong and 31-year-old Pedro “Peter” Gil, both residents of Modesto. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Mr. Leyva Fong and Mr. Gil in their time of loss.

Child Injured in Modesto Bicycle Accident

A child was injured in a Modesto bicycle accident on the evening of June 3, 2019. The bike crash occurred shortly before 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of High Street and Redwood Avenue near downtown Modesto. A 12-year-old boy was riding his bike eastbound along Redwood Avenue when he was struck by a 2005 Dodge Ram that was headed north on High Street. The child was transported via air ambulance to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento for treatment of serious injuries. Officials have said he has remained in critical condition but is expected to survive.

Four Injured in Modesto Hit and Run Accident

Four parties were injured in a Modesto hit and run accident on the afternoon of June 1, 2019. The car wreck occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Del Vale Avenue and West Roseburg Avenue. A 40-year-old man was driving a black Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck in the area and ran a stop sign at the intersection. The Chevrolet then collided with a white Nissan Altima occupied by two children and two women and came to a rest after striking an unoccupied Mercedes-Benz parked in the driveway of a nearby home. The impact of the collision propelled the Mercedes-Benz into the porch, causing structural damage. A 12-year-old girl was reportedly ejected from the Nissan during the crash and was transported via air ambulance to the hospital for treatment of head injuries. The second child and two women were taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of unspecified trauma. An update regarding their conditions has not yet been released by officials.

One Killed in Stanislaus County Crash

One person was killed in a Stanislaus County crash on the afternoon of May 19, 2019. The car accident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. along Highway 132 at Hayward Road, just east of La Grange. The collision involved two cars, one described in the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report as a newer-model blue sedan and the other as a blue Subaru. Dispatchers were notified that one of the vehicles caught fire which spread to a nearby field. Four people were transported to a hospital in Turlock while one other was airlifted to a hospital in Modesto. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene shortly after the accident and confirmed one person was killed. Officials identified the decedent as Sheila Faye Arndt, a 72-year-old resident of La Grange. We would like to take the time to send our condolences to the friends and family of Ms. Arndt in their time of loss.

Pedestrian Injured in Modesto Hit and Run

A pedestrian was injured in a Modesto hit and run accident on the night of May 15, 2019. The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. at Standiford Avenue and Dale Road. A pedestrian was crossing the intersection when he was hit by a motorist who then drove away from the scene in a white Toyota Camry. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Updates on his condition were not immediately available.

Waterford Man Killed in Car Accident

A Waterford man was killed in a recent car accident along the Oakdale-Waterford Highway just north of Ellenwood Road. A woman was driving her 2004 Ford Explorer north along the highway shortly before 10:00 p.m. The Ford driver entered the oncoming traffic lane and drove into the path of a 2015 Nissan Versa, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). This resulted in a head-on collision. Paramedics responding to the scene transported the Ford driver and a passenger of the Nissan to the hospital, both for treatment of serious injuries. Sadly, the Nissan driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 20-year-old Edgar Gonzalez, a resident of Waterford and student of UC Merced. Our thoughts and prayers are with those mourning the loss of their loved one during this difficult time.

One Hospitalized After Modesto Rollover Accident

One person was hospitalized after a Modesto rollover accident on May 5, 2019. The incident occurred along McHenry Avenue in the vicinity of Lee Street. Two vehicles collided with one another, causing both of them to flip over. One of the cars overturned onto its side along the street while the other came to a rest upside down against a tree with its axle hanging off. A few Good Samaritans at the scene helped lift one of the cars to extricate an occupant who was trapped inside. The Modesto Police Department said one party was transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of unspecified injuries. Two others, including a child, suffered minor injuries in the car accident. An update regarding the conditions of those injured has not yet been released by authorities.
