A Stanislaus County pedestrian fatality occurred on the night of February 6 at Joe’s Travel Plaza along Howard Road in Westley. A man in the parking lot was struck by a big rig that was backing up shortly before 8:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His identity has been withheld by authorities due to pending notification of family members. Our sincere condolences are extended to those mourning the loss of their loved one during this difficult time.

Stanislaus County Crash Injures Three

A car accident in Stanislaus County left three parties injured on the morning of January 27, 2019. The collision occurred along River Road and Azevedo Road, just northeast of Newman. One driver was reportedly pulling out of a driveway onto River Road. While doing so, the driver was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The impact of the collision caused major damage to both cars involved in the crash. Medical personnel were called to the scene to transport three parties to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Officials have not yet released an update regarding the conditions of those injured in the car wreck.

Accident Fatally Injures Modesto Church Leader

An auto accident northeast of Ripon claimed the life of a Modesto church leader on January 22, 2019. The incident occurred at the intersection of Mello Road and Murphy Road. A driver of an Acura SUV was traveling west on Mello Road and approached a stop sign at the intersection. The Acura driver entered the intersection and was struck by an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado, according to the California Highway Patrol. The impact of the collision caused damage to the front-end of the Chevrolet and driver’s side of the Acura. Sadly, the Acura driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. Officials have identified the decedent as 57-year-old Tony Marshall of Modesto.

Modesto Serious Motorcycle Crash

A Modesto serious motorcycle crash occurred on the afternoon of January 8 along Briggsmore Avenue in the vicinity of Lakewood Avenue. A 32-year-old Modesto man was riding his Yamaha motorcycle west along Briggsmore Avenue when he reportedly lost control of his bike and crashed at approximately 1:00 in the afternoon. The man was separated from the Yamaha in the accident. The impact of the collision also caused the gas tank of the motorcycle to rupture and catch fire. Crews from the Modesto Fire Department were called to the scene to extinguish the flames from the burning bike. Medical personnel transported the injured rider to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, including extensive road rash. Officials have not yet released an update regarding his condition.

Modesto Major Pedestrian Collision

A Modesto major pedestrian collision occurred on the afternoon of January 7 along Yosemite Boulevard near Conejo Avenue. A driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling westbound along Yosemite Avenue when the vehicle collided with a pedestrian. The Chrysler driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. The walker suffered serious injuries, including bone fractures, but is expected to survive, according to authorities.

A Modesto major pedestrian accident occurred along Wade Avenue and Rouse Avenue on December 31, 2018. The incident happened at approximately 6:00 in the evening and involved a pickup truck and a pedestrian. A driver of a white pickup truck reportedly crashed into a man walking in the area and fled the scene following the collision. Medical personnel was called to the scene to transport the injured party to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An update regarding the man’s condition has not yet been released by officials.

The incident happened shortly before 9:45 p.m. along River Road in the vicinity of Bystrum Road in south Modesto. A 68-year-old man was walking north across the road when he was struck by an eastbound car whose driver fled the scene following the collision. The walker was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Officials have not yet released an update regarding their condition.
