Details on the Motorcycle Collision in Fresno That Killed a Ceres Man

A preliminary report revealed that a man from Ceres was riding a motorcycle on southbound Highway 99 in Fresno in the far-left lane when he reportedly encountered an obstruction in the road. The biker allegedly struck the item causing him to fall off his motorcycle.

The motorcyclist landed in the right lane of SR-99, where he was hit by a Toyota driven by a 28-year-old Fresno woman. The biker was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization.

Officials indicated that the Toyota driver was uninjured in the incident. CHP traffic officers reported that the Toyota driver did not show any signs of impairment. How Can a Lawyer Help Our Family with a Wrongful Death Claim?

Motorcycle riders are vulnerable on the road and are more likely to suffer serious injuries or get killed in a collision than occupants of passenger vehicles. Aside from the injuries, motorcycle crashes may lead to mounting medical bills, wage loss, and other direct costs. Unfortunately, some bikers may succumb to their injuries. When a family loses a close relative to this type of accident, they may bring a wrongful death claim against the at-fault party. A Fresno motorcycle accident attorney will advise surviving family members on how to proceed with the case and what to expect from the legal process moving forward.

Some of the common economic and non-economic damages survivors may be able to seek after a fatal motorcycle collision include medical bills covering the time the decedent was treated at the hospital for final injuries, funeral service costs, lost companionship for surviving family members, mental anguish, and more. While financial compensation may not bring a lost loved one back, it may help the family with these losses and help provide them a secure future. Getting maximum financial recovery for a wrongful death claim may be challenging, particularly when difficult insurers and defense counsel are involved.

An accident attorney may need to call on expert witnesses to determine the full scope of economic and non-economic damages. This will help a lawyer build a strong and compelling case for maximum compensation. An attorney will also review the death certificate, traffic incident report, medical records, and other documents concerning the fatal incident. From there, the lawyer will work to prove negligence on the part of the other side and seek a favorable outcome in the case on the family’s behalf.
