Officials indicated in a preliminary report that a 47-year-old man from Fresno was riding the Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Avenue 12. At the same time, a 42-year-old man from El Sobrante was driving a Nissan eastbound on Avenue 12. Investigators reported that the Nissan allegedly traveled into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the motorcyclist.

CHP traffic officers said that both parties tried to avoid an accident by veering off the road toward the south side. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful, and both vehicles collided head-on.

The driver and passenger in the Nissan, a woman and two children, received treatment for minor injuries. Sadly, the motorcycle rider was declared deceased at the scene. The fatal incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Additional information was not immediately available.

What is Wrongful Death?

After the loss of a close relative, your family may be concerned about your future. If the loss was due to another party or entity’s negligence, your family may hold the other side liable through a wrongful death claim. Such cases are intended to make survivors whole again. Some damages that may be recovered include medical costs, funeral bills, lost income, loss of companionship, and more.

The path to financial compensation for a fatal motorcycle accident is generally an insurance settlement. However, there are some situations where the at-fault party and their insurance company may dispute liability for the incident, resulting damages, and resort to other defense tactics. A top Fresno motorcycle accident attorney may file a lawsuit to proceed with litigation and seek the financial recovery your family needs and deserves.
