Injuries Reported After Car Accident in Fresno

Injuries were reported after a car accident involving several vehicles on Highway 180 in Fresno on the night of March 28, 2020. Officials with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the incident occurred along the westbound lanes of SR-180 near the interchange with Highway 168. A driver of a Toyota Camry was reportedly traveling over 100 mph and rear-ended another car. The Toyota came to a rest in an embankment where it caught fire while the other vehicle became disabled along the highway and sparked a chain reaction collision. The incident involved a total of seven cars. One of the parties involved in the crash suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital in Selma. The driver of the Toyota sustained severe head injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. Once the Toyota driver is released from the hospital, they will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on various charges, according to CHP.

Central Fresno Pedestrian Fatality

A pedestrian fatality was reported after a traffic accident in central Fresno on the morning of Thursday, March 19, 2020. The pedestrian accident happened around 4:00 a.m. on West Princeton and North Weber avenues. A man was walking in the area when he was hit and killed by a pickup truck. The Fresno Police Department said that the driver of the pickup remained at the scene and was cooperative with officials. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as 32-year-old Anthony Choza of Fresno. A GoFundMe page has been established on behalf of Mr. Choza’s family to help cover his funeral expenses.

Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Reedley

A recent fatal accident in Reedley, CA, left a pedestrian dead. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly after midnight at Rio Vista Avenue and Manning Avenue. According to the Reedley Police Department, a pedestrian was walking in the area when they were hit by a Jeep Cherokee. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene of the crash and determined that the pedestrian passed away. The identity of the decedent has been withheld by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as they are working to notify their family.

A woman was killed after a pedestrian accident in downtown Fresno on the morning of March 10, 2020. The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of R Street and Mariposa Street. A woman was walking in the area when she was struck by a vehicle headed south on R Street. She was taken to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. No other details, including the identity of the decedent, were immediately available.

Woman Injured After Fresno Pedestrian Accident

A woman was injured after a pedestrian accident in southwest Fresno on the morning of February 26, 2020. The auto-pedestrian accident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Fruit Avenue and California Avenue near Edison High School. A woman was walking in the area when she was hit by a silver Honda Civic sedan, causing severe damage to the front-end and windshield of the vehicle. The woman was reportedly in a coma and was transported to the hospital, according to the Fresno Police Department. Updates regarding her condition were not immediately available.

One Injured After Car Accident in Fresno

At least one person was injured after a car accident in Fresno, CA, on the afternoon of January 15, 2020. The traffic accident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Highway 99 in the vicinity of Ventura Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Ford Expedition was involved in a collision with two other vehicles. One person suffered unspecified injuries in the collision and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. A 58-year-old man was walking in the area when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Drivers that witnessed the crash immediately stopped to protect the injured man from oncoming traffic until emergency crews arrived. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, including emergency surgery. An update regarding his condition was not immediately available.

Man Injured in Fresno County Hit and Run Accident

A 26-year-old Las Vegas man was injured in a hit and run accident in Fresno County on the night of January 3, 2020. The incident occurred shortly before 11:15 p.m. on Interstate 5, just north of Coalinga, CA. A man pulled his vehicle onto the shoulder of northbound I-5 to change a tire. While doing so, he was struck by an unknown vehicle that veered onto the shoulder of the highway. The car reportedly did not stop after the crash, and the injured man was transported via air ambulance to a hospital in Fresno for treatment of serious injuries. The collision is under investigation, and anyone with details is encouraged to call the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Coalinga Area Office.

Woman Killed in Fresno County Head-On Collision

A woman was killed, and six others were injured in a Fresno County head-on collision on the night of August 2, 2019. The initial head-on collision occurred shortly before 8:50 p.m. along Highway 41 at Harlan Avenue, just south of Fresno and east of Riverdale. A woman was driving a Honda Civic southbound along the highway when she was involved in a head-on collision with a Kia SUV. A second car accident followed. A man in his 30s reportedly crashed head-on with a southbound car that was occupied by a family. The man allegedly struck a woman who had pulled over and attempted to redirect traffic due to the initial crash. A third head-on collision took place shortly after. The same man veered into the oncoming traffic lane and crashed into a big rig head-on. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the woman who was trying to direct traffic suffered critical injuries. The conditions of others involved in the collisions were described as moderate to severe. All were transported to the hospital for immediate treatment. Sadly, the Honda Civic driver involved in the initial car wreck was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 20-year-old Maria Martinez Ramirez of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Moreover, a GoFundMe page has been set up by the family of Ms. Maria Martinez Ramirez to help cover her final resting costs.
