Leg Injuries Reported in Fresno Pedestrian Accident

A pedestrian was hospitalized for severe leg injuries after being pinned against a light pole by a pickup truck in Fresno on March 18, 2019. The pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Blackstone Avenue. Officers from the Fresno Police Department witnessed a pickup truck traveling east along Olive Avenue, swerved and struck a light pole at the intersection. Officers found a pedestrian with both of his legs pinned between the pole and the vehicle. Emergency personnel was contacted to the scene to free the man. He was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

DUI Suspected in Fresno County Accident

A wrong-way driver was arrested on the night of March 9 after reportedly crashing his vehicle into three others along Highway 180 and attempting to flee the scene. At approximately 8:30 p.m., the motorist was allegedly driving under the influence when he veered over the center median and drove westbound along the eastbound lanes of the highway near Academy Avenue. After striking three oncoming cars, the driver fled the scene. However, officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) were able to catch up with the suspect a mile away. The driver, identified as a man in his 30s, was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony hit and run and felony DUI. People in the other cars hit by the man suffered moderate injuries. It is unknown whether these parties were hospitalized for their injuries.

Critical Injury Rollover Accident in Fresno

A critical injury rollover accident occurred along Ashlan Avenue and Bond Street in Fresno on March 8, when a single vehicle collided with a fire hydrant. The impact of the collision caused the car to roll several times before coming to a stop next to a church along the southeast corner. Firefighters were called to the scene to use hydraulic tools to extricate two men out of the mangled vehicle. Both parties suffered serious injuries and were reported to be conscious but unresponsive before being transported to a local hospital for treatment. An update regarding their conditions has not yet been released by officials.

Fresno Bus Accident Injures Three

A bus accident in northeast Fresno on January 10 sent three parties to hospitals for treatment of traumatic injuries. The incident occurred shortly before 4:00 in the afternoon at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Alluvial Avenue. The collision involved a Fresno Area Express (FAX) bus, Mercedes-Benz SUV, GMC Yukon, Acura TL, and a Chevrolet Traverse. Officials said the driver of a FAX bus was distracted by one of the four passengers on board and ran a red light, resulting in a multi-vehicle collision. One child and one adult on the FAX bus were taken to a local hospital for treatment. One of the other drivers involved in the crash was also transported to a hospital for treatment. An update regarding the conditions of those injured in the accident has not yet been released by officials.
