Fatal Car Accident Reported in Antioch Area

Officials responded to a call of a fatal car accident in the Antioch area on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 25, 2021. The motor vehicle collision occurred on Somersville Road at State Route 4 around 12:30 p.m.

Accident on State Route 160 Kills Both Drivers

A double fatality accident occurred on March 16 along State Route 160 near the Antioch Bridge in what appears to be a head-on collision. The accident happened around 4:45 in the morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Responders with the Rio Vista Fire Department arrived at the scene to declare the drivers of both vehicles deceased. 

Fatal Single-Vehicle Accident in Antioch

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a call of a fatal single-vehicle accident at 2:45 a.m. on Highway 160 at Main Street in Antioch on Sunday, January 24, 2021. The Antioch car accident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on northbound SR-160.

Antioch Woman Killed in Interstate 680 Car Crash

An Antioch, CA woman was identified by officials as one of three people who were killed in a recent car crash on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek. 18-year-old Zakiya Thomas of Antioch, 18-year-old Terrinae Williams of Antioch, and 47-year-old Dimitri Washington of Oakland all reportedly passed away at the scene of a single-vehicle accident on northbound I-680 at the exit for North Main Street. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said a driver of a Pontiac Grand Prix sedan allegedly lost control while taking the exit and struck a tree around 10:40 p.m. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire, and the three occupants inside succumbed to their injuries at the collision site. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of Ms. Terrinae Williams and her family to help cover her final resting expenses.

Isleton Resident Killed in Head-On Collision

A motorcyclist died on July 24 following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in the southern part of Sacramento County. The accident happened on eastbound Highway 12 close to Brannon Island Road at about 1:42 in the afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident is being investigated by the CHP to discover what led to the fatal accident.

Wrong-Way Crash Killed Two

Two residents of Antioch were killed in a wrong-way crash in Danville on Sunday, June 7. The fatal head-on collision happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Interstate 680. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 27-year Concord woman was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-680 near El Cerro Boulevard/El Pintado Road interchange in Danville. She was driving a 2020 Ford Fusion that crashed head-on into an oncoming 2012 Honda Civic from the northbound lanes, killing both the driver and passenger inside the Honda. Right after the head-on crash, the Honda was involved in an additional crash with another car. No injuries resulted from the second accident, said CHP. Upon CHP and emergency personnel arrival, the female driver of the wrong-way vehicle was located and detained.

Fatal Antioch Accident on Highway 4 

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively investigating a car crash where an Antioch resident was fatally injured at Highway 4 in Antioch, CA. The incident occurred on Saturday, May 23, around 2:15 a.m. on HWY-4, west of Hillcrest Avenue. Authorities responded to a call reporting a car that had crashed into the HWY-4 eastbound concrete center divider. Upon arrival of the Contra Costa CHP division and other emergency personnel, a late 90’s Toyota Camry was engulfed in flames while the driver was still inside.

Pedestrian Fatality on Highway 4 near Antioch

Recently, one fatality was reported in a pedestrian accident on Highway 4 near Antioch. The vehicle-vs.-pedestrian collision took place on the westbound lanes of Highway 4, just east of Laurel Road, around 9:20 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Before the CHP and emergency responders arrived, a man was hit by a Nissan sedan and found lying on the road. Emergency responders at the scene pronounced him dead. The Nissan driver, a 23-year old female from Bethel Island, was seriously injured from the crash and was transferred to a local hospital for treatment. The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Coroner’s Division has identified the decedent as 29-year-old Steven Armstrong of Pinole.

Pittsburg Man Identified in Fatal Antioch Crash

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, authorities reported the identity of a Pittsburg man who tragically lost his life during a double-vehicle collision that took place in the nearby city of Antioch. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office identified the decedent as David Mattie, a 52-year-old man. According to reports from the Antioch Police Department (APD), the crash happened at night just off of a local highway. In addition to Mattie, an 18-year-old man from Antioch also suffered trauma during the crash.

Antioch Pedestrian Auto Accident Kills 11-year-old

On Thursday, February 27, 2020, an 11-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being involved in an Antioch pedestrian auto accident. According to the Antioch Police Department (APD), the tragic vehicle accident reportedly involved one vehicle and happened at night in a residential area of the city. The collision remains under investigation by local officials.
