Determining Fault in a Wrong-Way Accident Near Antioch

Wrong-way accidents are almost all caused by negligence by one of the drivers. Common causes include:

  • Drunk driving is a significant cause of wrong-way accidents because drivers cannot control their vehicles.
  • Fatigued driving can cause an accident when the driver falls asleep at the wheel and drifts into the opposing lane.
  • Distracted driving because the motorist is texting or performing another activity instead of concentrating on the road can lead to a wrong-way accident near Antioch.
  • Speeding can cause a driver to lose control and end up in the oncoming lane, causing a collision.
  • Misplaced signs on a roadway can cause a driver to enter the highway in the wrong direction. The government entity charged with signage may be liable. Because you have only six months to file a government claim, contacting an injury lawyer might help.

Proving Your Injury Claim

If a negligent driver caused your accident, an injury lawyer can gather the evidence needed to prove your claim in addition to police records. Our investigators go to the accident scene, take photos, and collect any evidence found there. They examine the police report for errors and interview witnesses. In addition, they searched for area surveillance cameras and performed accident reconstruction. Once the investigation is complete, our lawyers use the evidence to construct a strong compensation case.

Recoverable Compensation in a Car Accident Claim

When someone is injured in a car accident caused by a negligent driver, they can recover the following in compensation:

  • Medical expenses caused by the accident are recovered. The fees may include hospitalization, ambulance, physician bills, testing, surgeries, and rehabilitation.
  • Recoverable wages include those the injured party lost because they could not work. Wages also include regular job perks, such as insurance and pension benefits.
  • Pain and suffering include both the physical and emotional aspects of the injury. Many people suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder after an accident. The treatment of emotional problems caused by an accident is recoverable.
