Fiery Truck Crash on Highway 152 in Madera County

Two parties were injured after a fiery truck crash on Highway 152 in Madera County on the early morning of Tuesday, June 23, 2020. The big rig accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on CA-152 near Road 9. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a diesel truck hauling garlic was involved in a traffic collision with a Honda. The impact caused both vehicles to veer out of control. The tractor-trailer caught fire, and the trucker escaped the big rig with injuries described as minor. The driver of the Honda suffered a femur fracture, officials said. An ambulance responded to the scene to transport at least one party to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment.

Woman Killed After Pedestrian Accident Near Madera

A 55-year-old Susanville woman was killed after a pedestrian accident near Madera, CA, on the night of April 12, 2020. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Road 26 just north of Haley Way, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported. The CHP said the woman was reportedly pushing a shopping cart across Road 26 when she was hit and killed by an oncoming Kia. The driver of the Kia, a 19-year-old Madera man, allegedly drove away from the scene. He went home, checked for damage to the vehicle, and returned to the crash site to cooperate with investigators. He was not determined to be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was not arrested. Further details about the crash, including the identity of the decedent, have not yet been released.

Fatal Bicycle Accident in Madera County

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating a fatal bicycle accident that left an elderly man dead in Madera County on the morning of Monday, March 16, 2020. The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. at Ellis Street and Road 26. Investigators said an SUV crashed into a man who was riding his bicycle in the area. He was propelled from his bike and then struck by another car. Authorities said both drivers stopped and cooperated with the investigation. The CHP reported that they are unsure which vehicle killed the cyclist and added that neither motorist is expected to face charges. Officials with the Madera County Coroner’s Office have identified the decedent as Johnny Serrano, 70, of Madera.

Man Killed After Madera County Pedestrian Accident

A 35-year-old man was killed after a pedestrian accident near Coarsegold, CA, in Madera County on the night of January 13, 2020. The crash occurred shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Highway 41, just north of Yosemite Springs Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A man was attempting to cross Highway 41 when he was reportedly hit by an oncoming 2005 Toyota driven by a 55-year-old Vallejo man. Sadly, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. Officials have withheld his name because his family has not yet been notified.

Injuries Reported in Madera County Motorcycle Crash

Major injuries were reported in a recent Madera County motorcycle crash. The motorcycle accident occurred on Road 274 near Road 225 in North Fork. A 41-year-old North Fork man was riding his 2004 Yamaha YZF-600R motorcycle behind a 2001 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 21-year-old Oakhurst man. For unknown reasons, the Jeep driver reportedly made a U-turn in front of the biker. The motorcycle rider attempted to take evasive action. Sadly, his efforts were unsuccessful, and he collided with the driver’s side door of the Jeep. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in the accident and was transported via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Updates regarding his condition were not immediately available.

One Killed in Madera County Car Accident

One person was killed in a Madera County car accident on the afternoon of May 27, 2019. The car wreck occurred just before 2:00 p.m. along Highway 152 near Chowchilla. According to a preliminary report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a man was making a left turn from westbound State Route 152 onto Road 13. While doing so, his vehicle was struck by another car carrying a family of four. One party from the second car was transported via air ambulance to the hospital while the others were taken by ambulance to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Sadly, the driver of the first vehicle succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials have identified the decedent as 22-year-old Servando Aguilar Lopez of Madera. Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr. Lopez in their time of loss.

Man Killed in Madera Head-On Collision

A Groveland man was killed in a Madera head-on collision on the evening of May 16, 2019. The car wreck occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. along Avenue 15 just east of Santa Fe Drive. A man was driving his Ford Transit van eastbound along Avenue 15 as another man was driving his 2010 Chrysler 300 westbound. Witnesses at the scene told the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that the Chrysler driver veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the Ford. The Chrysler driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries. Sadly, the Ford driver passed away at the scene. Officials said that the identity of the decedent will be made available after his next-of-kin has been notified. Madera County Pedestrian Fatality

A Madera County pedestrian fatality occurred on December 10, 2018. An investigation is underway by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) following a fatal hit-and-run accident along the on-ramp for Avenue 12 to Highway 99. A body of a 62-year-old Madera man was found in the roadway at approximately 5:00 in the morning and was reported to officials by a passerby. The driver who struck the elderly pedestrian reportedly fled the scene and is believed to have continued northbound along Highway 99. Identifying information of the deceased has been withheld due to pending family notification.
