Ivy Street Intersection Site of Motor Vehicle Crash With Pedestrian

A pedestrian accident on October 22 caused major injuries in a crash with a motor vehicle in Chico. The accident happened at the Ivy Street intersection with West Third Street. Chico Police Department officers arrived at the scene and said the walker was crossing the street when the accident happened. 

Accident on 1st Avenue off-ramp May Have Involved Drunk Driver

A multiple-vehicle crash on a Chico off-ramp may have involved a drunk driver. The three-vehicle collision occurred off northbound S.R. 90 on the east 1st Avenue off-ramp around 8:19 p.m. The incident blocked the number one lane on the ramp, according to the accident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

Four-Vehicle Crash Reported on Highway 99

A traffic crash along Highway 99 near Chico injured two people in a four-vehicle accident on June 10. The collision happened around 5:00 a.m. near Gaia Road. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident report said that a woman driving south along the highway drifted over into the lane going northbound, crashing into a tractor-trailer heading north. 

Car Goes Off Road at Highway 32 Intersection

A single-vehicle traffic fatality occurred in Chico on March 20 after the car went off the road. The accident happened around 6:57 a.m. along Highway 32 at Forest Avenue, according to a Chico Police Department press release. When officers arrived at the accident scene, they discovered the car had hit a tree when it left the road at that intersection. 

Tree Falls on Bridge at Five-Mile Recreation Area

Tree falls are a problem with inclement weather, and on December 29, a Chico bridge was the site of such a calamity. The tree’s large branches prevented traffic from passing over the bridge that is located at the Five-Mile recreation area. The tree has since been removed, but the bridge remains closed due to bent railings and potential structural damage.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Hitting Bedroom in Chico Apartment Complex 

An alleged drunk driver hit a Chico apartment on North Avenue recently, rupturing a gas line. The accident happened around midnight and, according to the Chico Police Department, the officers at the scene shut the gas line off shortly afterward. Representatives from the city’s building department and PG&E also responded. Tenants were allowed to reenter the complex within an hour after the accident. No one was injured in the crash, which shut down North and East avenues for a brief period. 

Chico Accident Results in Major Injuries for Pedestrian

A pedestrian was seriously injured in an accident when a vehicle traveling southbound hit him on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway recently. The incident occurred in the vicinity of the Costco gas station. The area was closed to vehicular traffic for about three hours while the accident was investigated. According to the Chico Police Department, the walker, who is 58, was transported to the hospital for a fractured neck and deformed shoulder and right leg and was in serious but stable condition. A representative of the police department said the man was inebriated and crossed the road at an unauthorized location.
