Fresno Man Killed After Hit and Run Crash in Friant

A Fresno man was killed, and at least three others were injured after a fatal hit and run crash near Friant on the afternoon of Saturday, June 27, 2020. The car accident occurred at Old Friant Road and North Friant shortly after 4:00 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), two vehicles were reportedly involved in a traffic collision near the intersection. One of the drivers, identified as a 25-year-old North Fork man, allegedly drove away from the scene but returned a short time later. Officials said he did not have a driver’s license and arrested him on felony hit and run charges. Sadly, the driver of the other vehicle, 25-year-old Jesus Gonzalez of Fresno, was ejected from the car and pronounced deceased at the scene. At least one adult passenger and two juvenile passengers were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. Updates regarding the conditions of those hospitalized were not immediately available.

Four Hospitalized After Car Crash in Fresno

Four parties were hospitalized after a high-speed car crash in southwest Fresno on the afternoon of Thursday, June 4, 2020. The car accident occurred at the intersection of Thorne Avenue and Whitesbridge Avenue, the Fresno Police Department (Fresno PD) reported. Video surveillance shows a pickup truck exiting out of a parking lot and onto the road when a speeding Chevrolet Camaro broadsides the vehicle at the intersection, causing the Chevrolet to overturn several times. The store owner of A&M Westside Market and a patron ran to the scene. They helped remove a passenger who was trapped inside the pickup after the collision. The driver and passenger of the Camaro were able to exit the vehicle on their own before it engulfed in flames. The pickup driver was able to escape out of his truck on his own after the T-bone collision. The four parties involved in the car crash were hospitalized at Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in Fresno for minor to moderate injuries, according to the Fresno Fire Department. All four are expected to survive their injuries.

One Arrested After DUI Crash in Fresno County

One party was injured, and another was arrested after a DUI crash near Selma, CA, in Fresno County on the night of May 24, 2020. The car accident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Mountain View Avenue, just east of Highway 43, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A 31-year-old Fresno man was driving a Ford Focus eastbound on Mountain View Ave., and was approaching a red light at the intersection. At the same time, a 27-year-old Selma woman was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound and was also approaching the intersection. The Fresno man reportedly drove around another car stopped at the intersection, ran the red light, and proceeded through the intersection. His Ford allegedly crashed into the rear of the Selma woman’s Toyota, propelling his vehicle into a telephone pole and causing it to knock down. Both lanes of Mountain View Avenue were blocked as a result of the telephone pole falling down. Both parties were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Ford has since been arrested and charged with felony driving under the influence (DUI). After being released from hospitalization, he was booked at Fresno County Jail for DUI resulting in injury.

Two Killed After Car Accident in Fresno County

Two parties were killed, and another suffered serious injuries after a car accident early Memorial Day in rural Fresno County. The single-vehicle accident took place on May 25th at approximately 3:00 a.m. on northbound Highway 41 and Conejo Avenue, just southeast of Caruthers. A 25-year-old Fresno man was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla and reportedly crashed into a metal light post at the intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The driver of the Toyota suffered catastrophic injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment. Sadly, the two passengers of the Toyota were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified them as 26-year-old Joseph Camacho and 35-year-old Rachel Krumm, both residents of Fresno.

Two Injured After Fiery Crash in Fresno

Two people were injured after a fiery crash in the Fresno area on the afternoon of May 15, 2020. The car accident occurred on south Leonard Avenue and East Manning Avenue shortly before 12:40 p.m. A traffic accident involving two vehicles happened at the intersection. One of the cars reportedly caught fire after the collision, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A person attempted to put out the vehicle fire by using a fire extinguisher to save the two people that were allegedly trapped inside. First responders arrived on site to remove the two parties trapped inside the burning vehicle and transported them via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The severity of their injuries was not disclosed. However, they were said to be conscious and breathing. Additional details about the motor vehicle collision, including the sequence of events leading up to it, were not immediately available.

Woman Killed After Car Accident in Fresno County

A woman was killed, and several others were injured after a car accident near Kingsburg, CA, in Fresno County on the night of May 14, 2020. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 in the vicinity of Sierra Street. An 18-year-old Ivanhoe woman reportedly lost control of her 2006 Honda and crashed into the median wall, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Two drivers, identified as a 24-year-old Visalia man and a 28-year-old Fresno man, were approaching the scene of the initial collision and were unable to avoid the woman’s vehicle. The two oncoming cars crashed into her. The drivers of the two other cars and two children sustained minor injuries after the Kingsburg crash, the CHP said. It is unknown whether they were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Ivanhoe woman was extricated from her vehicle and transported via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of catastrophic injuries. Sadly, she was pronounced deceased during hospitalization. Officials have not yet released her name due to pending notification of her family members.

Pedestrian Killed in Fresno Hit and Run Accident

A pedestrian was killed after a hit and run accident in central Fresno on the night of May 6, 2020. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at East Olive Avenue and Fisher Street. A woman in her fifties was crossing Olive Avenue when she was struck by an eastbound sedan, according to the Fresno Police Department (Fresno PD). The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene before Fresno PD officers arrived. The woman was transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Officials have not yet released her identity until her family has been notified of her passing.

Suspected DUI Driver Arrested in Fresno Hit and Run

A driver suspected of DUI was arrested after being involved in a hit and run accident in southeast Fresno, CA, on the morning of May 6, 2020. Officers from the Fresno Police Department (Fresno PD) were called to the scene of a minor collision between two cars around 7:00 a.m. at Church and Orange avenues. One of the motorists reportedly fled the scene, and the other driver involved in the accident followed them down Church Avenue to Cedar Avenue. As Fresno PD officers arrested one of the parties involved in the initial accident on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), a third car drove by the area and crashed into a cyclist. The rider of the bicycle suffered minor injuries as a result. The third vehicle that struck the bicyclist left the scene, and police are now looking for the suspect involved in the bicycle accident. Updates, including the description of the third car and its driver, were not immediately available.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. in the area of Manning Avenue and Golden State Boulevard in Fowler, CA, according to Fresno County Fire. Several vehicles were pinned in after a collision, and crews extricated three people from their cars. They were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of moderate injuries. Details, including the sequence of events leading up to the incident and the conditions of the injured parties, were not immediately available.

Teenager Killed After DUI Car Accident in Fresno

A teenager was killed, and a driver was injured after a car accident reportedly caused by DUI in Fresno, CA, on April 25, 2020. Officers from the Fresno Police Department (Fresno PD) responded to the area of Chestnut and Nees Avenues shortly after 3:00 p.m. for a crash involving two vehicles. A pickup truck broadsided the passenger side of a red Volkswagen Jetta sedan that was headed westbound on Nees Avenue, according to police. The pickup driver was uninjured but was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI). The driver of the Volkswagen suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening. Sadly, the passenger passed away at the scene of the drunk driving accident. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as 19-year-old Carson Gates of Fresno. A GoFundMe page has been established on behalf of Mr. Gate’s father to help him through this difficult time with final resting expenses and other support.
