Patrol Car Hits Woman in Crosswalk

On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 14, 2021, a collision between a Berkeley police patrol vehicle and a pedestrian took place at the intersection of Allston Way and Sacramento Street.  The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the incident. The pedestrian who was struck was taken to the hospital and released the following morning. 

Numerous Crashes at Cedar and Sacramento

Residents of the Westbrae neighborhood in Berkeley, California, are expressing concerns over an area that seems to be prone to car accidents. The most recent accident to occur at the intersection of Cedar Street and Sacramento Street happened on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. It appears to have been caused by a red-light runner. In that crash, one of the motorists reportedly suffered broken bones and a possible head injury. The collision on the 22nd followed another that occurred the day before. Another serious accident happened at the same intersection just a few weeks prior. 

Two Occupants of Sedan Sustain Fatal Injuries

Two people were killed on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 11th, in Berkeley, California. They were the driver and passenger of a sedan. Their vehicle collided with another, according to city police. The crash also damaged a utility pole. Police determined from evidence at this scene that this was a high-impact crash.

Bicycle/Truck Crash Kills Berkeley Cyclist

A bicycle/truck crash took the life of a 30-year old Berkeley woman on March 9 at 8:19 a.m., according to local authorities. The accident happened in the vicinity of San Francisco’s 6th and Howard Street area. The woman was identified by the city coroner’s office as Tess Rothstein. I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of the deceased in their time of grief and sorrow.

Six People Die in Berkeley Balcony Collapse

Last week, the licensing board for California contractors announced a settlement that includes revoking the license of a Pleasanton-based general contractor. The contractor in question was responsible for the construction of a balcony that collapsed at an apartment complex in Berkeley in 2015.
