The Problem of Speeding in California

To travel the Sacramento highways at any time of the day or night is to become aware that speeding is a problem in our area. The issue of excessive speed is not limited to our local area. Across the United States, there was an increase in traffic fatalities in 2020. More than 42,000 people lost their lives due to car accidents last year, and that was during a pandemic, with greatly reduced traffic volumes. One potential solution to this problem is automated speed enforcement. 

Big Rig Attempting to Pass Ends in Tragedy

On Thursday, April 22, 2021, one person died following a collision with a commercial truck that was hauling anhydrous ammonia. The big rig collided head-on with a pickup truck at approximately 6:00 a.m. in a rural area within Sutter County, according to authorities.

Fatal Accident at Highway 12 and Beck Avenue

An automobile accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 12 and Beck Avenue in Fairfield has claimed the life of at least one person and caused injuries to multiple others, according to information released by the Fairfield Fire Department.

Driver Dies After Crashing on State Route 50

A solo-vehicle accident on April 21 ended in a fatality on a Sacramento highway. The crash happened shortly after 5:30 in the morning along eastbound State Route 50 just east of the 16th Street on-ramp when the vehicle crashed into the center divider. The vehicle, identified as a black Audi, ended up in the number one lane. The driver’s identity has not been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the family.

Tragic Motorcycle Accident Near Yuba City

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, a man operating a motorcycle and his passenger sustained fatal injuries in a collision with a vehicle. The crash occurred at the intersection of Forty Mile Road and Plumas Arboga Road, south of Yuba City, according to a statement issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Prius Driver Strikes Pedestrian on North Market Street

On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, a man was struck by a car and killed while he was crossing North Market Street/Highway 273.  Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Redding Police Department responded to the scene of the fatal incident, which occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Double Accident Near Folsom Boulevard Injures Two People and Claims One Life

The traffic fatality of a Good Samaritan occurred in Sacramento County on April 16 when they were attempting to assist a pedestrian who had been involved in a separate accident. The accident occurred around 8:15 p.m. near Folsom Boulevard and Bradshaw Road, as reported in the incident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The pedestrian involved in the initial accident suffered moderate injuries, and other vehicles stopped to offer aid around 10 minutes later. 

Accident at Williard Parkway Intersection Claims Life of Bicyclist

A fatal crash was reported in Elk Grove on April 14 when the operator of a motorized bicycle collided with a truck. The accident was reported by the Elk Grove Police Department at around 3:47 in the afternoon at the intersection of Willard Parkway and Blossom Ridge Drive. Medics arrived from the Elk Grove Fire Department and took the bicycle rider to a nearby hospital. 

Man Killed While Riding a Kubota

On Monday, April 12, 2021, a Gustine man was killed in a collision with a pickup truck.  The deceased had been operating a utility tractor. He has been identified by the Coroner’s Office for Stanislaus County as Daniel Hernandez, and he was 50 years of age.
