Santa Rosa Man Arrested on DUI and Hit-and-Run Charges After Multiple Collisions
A santa .
Santa Rosa police said several 911 callers reported that a vehicle had struck a bicyclist before leaving the area.
Witnesses provided investigators with information about the vehicle and photographs taken after the collision. Police said dispatchers used those details along with Automated License Plate Reader technology to identify a suspected vehicle and relay the information to officers searching the area.
Officer Locates Suspected Vehicle Near College Avenue
The officer later encountered a disabled vehicle on a Highway 101 ramp, where another collision had occurred.
Additional Crash Reported Near Highway 101 Ramps
Police said a third collision occurred farther east Highway 101 entrance and exit ramps. Three additional vehicles were disabled in that area.
The vehicle suspected of being involved in the earlier bicycle collision was among those involved in the final crash. Two people were inside the vehicle. Police detained both the driver and passenger at the scene.
Santa Rosa Police Continue Investigating Three Collisions
The affected roadway was closed for approximately one hour while investigators examined the collision scenes, gathered evidence, interviewed witnesses, and coordinated removal of the damaged vehicles.
Santa Rosa police said investigations into all three collisions remain ongoing.
Bicycle Safety and the Dangers of Impaired Driving
Bicyclists have limited protection when struck by a motor vehicle, making them particularly vulnerable to serious injuries. Drivers should remain alert for cyclists, provide adequate space when passing, and carefully check for bicycle traffic before turning or changing lanes.
Alcohol can impair reaction time, judgment, coordination, and a driver’s ability to safely respond to changing roadway conditions. Choosing a sober driver, rideshare service, taxi, or other transportation can prevent an impaired-driving collision.

Why Hiring a Bicycle Accident Attorney Can Help
A bicycle accident involving an alleged hit-and-run and multiple collisions can present complicated questions involving liability, insurance coverage, and available evidence. Police reports, witness statements, photographs, surveillance footage, vehicle data, and other records may become important when determining how the incident occurred.
An experienced bicycle accident attorney can investigate the collision, preserve relevant evidence, communicate with insurance companies, and help an injured cyclist pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other recoverable damages.
