Multiple-Vehicle Crash on I-80 Results in a Fatality 

A multiple-vehicle crash in Sacramento on June 21 ended up in a fatality. The collision involved five vehicles and occurred along eastbound Interstate 80 close to westbound El Camino Avenue at around 1:00 p.m. Officer A.J. McTaggart, a North Sacramento California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesman, said a Rocklin man, age 79, died in the collision. 

Don Julio Boulevard Fatal Pedestrian Accident Occurs at Pop-Up Store 

A fatal pedestrian accident in North Highlands was reported involving two women on October 29. The two women, who were sisters, were at an outdoor sports shop and killed when a driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into them. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. as the two Carmichael women, ages 60 and 56, were working at the pop-up store, which sold professional sporting gear. 

Driver Is Killed After Striking a Pole Near Rio Linda High School

A single-vehicle accident in Rio Linda on June 14 caused the death of a Sacramento man. The collision was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as occurring on Elkhorn Boulevard west of Dry Creek Road, along the side of the Rio Linda High School where the stadium is located. The driver, age 24, was in a BMW 323i sedan at about 9:00 p.m. when his vehicle crashed into a pole. 

Vehicle Ejection Accident Kills Two People on State Route 51

On Christmas Day, a rollover accident caused the ejection of two people from the Dodge Durango they were riding in, and both died. The police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the incident occurred at about 6:39 in the morning on southbound SR 51, close to the overcrossing for Fulton Avenue. This is when the vehicle went out of control for unknown reasons, passed over onto the road’s shoulder and overturned.
