Accident on Black Bart Avenue Intersection Proves Fatal

A motorcycle crash killed a rider in South Lake Tahoe on July 20 when he was involved in an accident with a pickup truck. The accident happened at the Black Bart and Hank Monk Avenue intersection around 6:48 a.m., as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The rider, on a Yamaha motorcycle, was heading north along Black Bart Avenue when a motorist in a Toyota pickup made a left turn off Hank Monk Avenue, which caused the motorcycle to crash into the truck’s side. 

Fourth Fatal Tesla Autopilot Crash

A crash occurred on May 5, 2021, in the Los Angeles area that was the fourth fatal incident involving a Tesla in Autopilot mode. The Model 3 that crashed on May 5th had the Autopilot system activated when it slammed into a truck that had overturned in the roadway. The Tesla driver was killed. The truck driver and a good samaritan who had stopped to assist were injured.  

Tahoe Area Woman Identified In Southern California Airplane Accident

On Monday, September 28, 2020, a woman from the Lake Tahoe Area was identified after she was involved in an airplane accident off the coast of Santa Barbara. The woman was identified by Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD) as Deborah Nicholson, a 61-year-old resident of a rural area outside of Lake Tahoe. According to officials, Nicholson was the only individual involved in this accident.

Missing Man Discovered Dead After Lake Tahoe Boating Accident

On Thursday, August 27, 2020,  the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office located a man who went missing earlier in the week after a boating accident on Lake Tahoe. Tragically, the individual was discovered deceased. Officials reported that the decedent was a 25-year-old resident of Gilroy.

Plane Crash Near South Lake Tahoe Kills Two

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, a small plane crash near South Lake Tahoe left two people with fatal injuries. Naval Air Station Fallon has recently identified the decedents as the pilot, 53-year-old Cmdr. Christopher Joas, and passenger, 51-year-old Margaret “Peggy” McGuire. Updates on their condition have not been reported, and the accident remains under investigation at this time.

Arrest Made After Fatal South Lake Tahoe Hit-and-Run

On Monday, October 7, 2019, local authorities arrested the suspected driver in a South Lake Tahoe hit-and-run accident that tragically cost one person their life. According to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), the accident took place the day prior at an intersection within city limits after the sun had set and involved a pedestrian and single vehicle. Officials have identified the decedent as 78-year-old Edwin Harshman of South Lake Tahoe.

Fiery Tahoe Trucking Accident Causes Fatality

One person was left with fatal trauma after a fiery Tahoe trucking accident that took place on Saturday, September 7, 2019. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers indicated that the crash involved two vehicles including a commercial truck hauling petroleum and a small sedan. In addition to the fatally injured man, one more person suffered major injuries as a result of the crash. County authorities are currently withholding the name of the decedent, and the accident remains under investigation.
