Fatal Accident on Greenback Lane Caused by Hit-and-Run Driver

The family of an Orangevale grandmother is searching for the hit-and-run driver who took her life on August 6. Cynthia Wright, age 56 and a resident of Citrus Heights, was walking along westbound Greenback Lane near Walnut Avenue around 10:00 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report. Before paramedics arrived at the scene of the hit-and-run, others stopped and tried to help Wright. 

Two-Vehicle Crash Results in a Fatality on Hazel Avenue

A two-vehicle crash was reported in Orangevale on May 31 that resulted in a fatality. The accident happened on Hazel Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) shortly before 9:30 p.m. near the Orangevale Community Center. Officials have recently identified the decedent as Joseph Mendoza, 26, of Orangevale. A GoFundMe page has been created on behalf of the Mendoza family to help cover final resting expenses.

Orangevale Teenager Struck on Hazel Avenue

A pedestrian death occurred in Orangevale on April 10 during the early morning hours after a teenager was struck by a vehicle. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the male teen was reported to be running across southbound Hazel Avenue at the intersection with Oak Avenue at about 6:00 in the morning when he was hit. The minor was pronounced dead by emergency responders at the accident site. He was later identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as a 13-year-old resident of Orangevale.

Orangevale Accident Fatality Near Madison and Maine Avenues

A vehicle accident fatality was reported on January 12 when a car crashed into a fire hydrant in Orangevale near Madison and Maine avenues. Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Sacramento Police Department, and the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the call, which came in at about 1:30 in the morning. One person in the vehicle fled, leaving behind four others, three injured and the person who died at the scene. The three who were injured in the crash suffered injuries described as moderate to minor. They were transported by emergency responders to nearby hospitals for treatment and additional evaluation of their injuries. The CHP is investigating the case.
