Motorist Reportedly Hit by Fleeing Semi Along I-5

An injury accident involving a reported hit-and-run with a semi occurred in the area of North Natomas on September 14. The accident happened just before 5:00 p.m. along southbound Interstate 5 just north of the Arena Boulevard off-ramp. When officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrived at the scene, they discovered a Subaru Forester along with another vehicle on the right-hand side. 

Tractor-Trailer and Sedan Collide on I-80 Near Truxel Road

A tractor-trailer rear-end crash with a sedan occurred in Natomas on June 13 that resulted in minor injuries. The accident happened along eastbound I-80 just east of the Truxel Road off-ramp around 3:39 a.m. between a big rig hauling a 50-foot trailer and a Toyota Camry Solara. When the accident occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the tractor-trailer went down into a ditch and the trailer ended up on its left side. 

Accident on I-80 Overturns Both Semi and Sedan

An overturned semi in Natomas on May 11 ended up backing up traffic. The incident was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) around 9:37 p.m. along westbound I-80 at southbound I-5. The accident blocked all the lanes when the semi turned over on its side and was reportedly leaking gas. Vehicle parts and the semi’s load were blocking the entire road.

Traffic Problems on I-80 and Garden Highway Increase Due to Amazon Trucks

Traffic along Interstate 80 and the Garden Highway in Natomas has gotten a lot worse since Amazon constructed a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in 2017. In addition to the dozens of delivery trucks that leave the center each day on their rounds, the facility employs 2,000 workers, which also adds to the congestion. Residents along Garden Highway are not at all happy about the increase in traffic. One member of the Garden Highway Community Association reported that he had counted up to 32 of Amazon’s delivery trucks traveling in a row. This highlights the growth of Natomas and the other counties near Sacramento and increasing traffic problems.

Natomas Big Rig Crash on Interstate 5

A Natomas big rig crash with several other vehicles occurred February 7 along Interstate 5 southbound. It happened just south of the Arena Boulevard onramp and resulted in injuries. The accident was between a FedEx semi pulling a trailer, a Chevy Silverado and a dark colored sedan. It occurred shortly after 6:00 in the morning. One of the vehicles was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) as facing the wrong way, blocking the Arena Boulevard offramp. The others were along the right-hand side, blocking the lanes. It is unknown what caused the Natomas big rig crash. The incident is being investigated by the CHP to determine the reason for the crash.
