47th Avenue to Highway 50 Closure

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close both directions of Highway 99 for more than four days in June 2021. The affected stretch of the highway spans from 47th Avenue to the Highway 50 connection. It will be closed at 8:00 p.m. on June 11th and is scheduled to re-open at 4:00 a.m. on June 16th. The closure will include the westbound Capital City Freeway/ Business 80 to southbound Highway 99 ramp as well as the east and westbound Highway 50 to Highway 99 connector ramps. The project will replace the concrete median barriers and sound walls. Brighter lights will also be installed, according to a Caltrans representative.

Auburn Intersection Accident Causes Injury

On the afternoon of May 3, 2021, a major injury accident that required vehicle occupant extrication occurred at the Auburn intersection of Bell Road and Quartz Drive. The collision took place at around 2:45 p.m., and all lanes at the intersection were blocked for a period of time following the crash.

Highway Accident Near Auburn Results in Serious Trauma

On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at least one person was seriously hurt during a highway accident near Auburn. Information from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicates that the collision took place at night, and only one passenger vehicle was involved. The number of people who were hurt and updates on their medical conditions have not been reported, and the crash is still under an active CHP investigation.

Vehicle Careens Off Cliff in Placer County, Two Injured

Two people were seriously hurt after a vehicle traveled off a cliff in Placer County on Sunday, December 20, 2020. Details from California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that the crash happened in the morning in a rural area east of the city of Auburn and south of Grass Valley. Limited information regarding the crash has been reported. However, an investigation into this traumatic collision is ongoing.
