Auburn Hit-and-Run Injures Motorist

Two Vehicle Hit-and-Run on Willow Creek Drive Injures Motorist

A hit-and-run accident between two vehicles in Auburn on March 21 caused injuries. The accident was reported around 12:18 p.m. along Willow Creek Drive between 1st Street and S.R. 49. When California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers arrived, they discovered an injured person in a Chevy van. The van sustained enough damage that it had to be towed from the scene. The CHP is investigating the collision to locate the fleeing driver and how the accident happened.

Accidents That Occur on City Streets

City streets can be dangerous, and accidents that occur there often result in serious injury or death. The most common causes of accidents on city streets include speeding, distracted driving, drunk driving and failing to yield the right of way, which sometimes involve a hit-and-run driver. Speeding is one of the biggest factors in causing accidents on city streets, as drivers are more likely to lose control of their cars when they are traveling too fast.

Distracted driving has become a major cause of accidents due to the increasing use of cell phones while driving, which can divert attention away from the road and reduce reaction time. Drunk driving is also a major cause of city street accidents as it impairs a driver’s ability to operate their vehicle safely. The driver might be more likely to flee the scene to avoid taking responsibility. Failing to yield the right of way is another leading cause of accidents, as drivers may become impatient and try to cut in front of other cars or pedestrians. All of these factors can lead to serious injury or death if an accident occurs.

An Injury Lawyer Can Investigate to Collect Evidence to Support Your Claim

If you were injured in an accident on a city street, your attorney could help determine the identity of the hit-and-run driver, who was negligent and investigate to build the most robust possible case. Your attorney will review police reports, medical records and other evidence to build a claim against the responsible party. An experienced injury lawyer can also facilitate negotiations with insurance companies to ensure that you receive the compensation you deserve.

Recovery of Compensation After an Injury Accident

Filing a compensation claim may be possible if you have been injured in a hit-and-run accident if negligence by another was the cause. Many types of compensation may be recoverable based on your injury and whether another driver’s negligence caused your accident, such as the following:

  • Medical expenses associated with the treatment of your injury
  • Earning capacity or wages lost
  • The benefits you lose as a result of your inability to work
  • Damages resulting from pain and suffering
  • The loss of companionship or consortium
  • Damage caused by emotional distress
  • In some cases, punitive damages are awarded to punish the at-fault party

There are some cases that might not be eligible for all types of compensation. You can obtain guidance from an accident lawyer regarding the types of damages you may be able to recover in your case. An accident attorney can also assist you in the negotiation and claim process, as they are familiar with the laws that pertain to personal injury cases and can ensure you receive the full compensation you deserve.
