Injury Accident Involving Horse Trailer Occurs in Auburn

State Route 48 Injury Accident Traps Driver in Vehicle

An injury accident occurred in North Auburn on May 26 when a vehicle flipped over a horse trailer and overturned. The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. at the El Dorado confluence of California State Routes 48 and 193 in front of the quarry. An injured party traveling with a dog was trapped inside the vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and a passerby was trying to get the occupant out.

Injured Party Hospitalized After Rollover Car Crash

Traffic backed up on Route 49 to I-80 just east of Elm. The trapped party was medevacked to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with undescribed trauma, and the dog was transported to the local shelter by animal control. No update has been provided on the condition of the injured motorist. Authorities with the CHP traffic investigation division are determining why the accident happened.

Causes of a Rollover Accident Other Than Driver Error

Aside from driver error, there are several other causes of rollover accidents, including the following:

  • Poorly maintained or designed roads: Poorly designed or maintained roadways such as uneven pavement, narrow shoulders, steep hills, and sharp curves can cause vehicles to lose control and rollover. If your lawyer’s investigator determines that roadway problems or neglect caused the injury accident, the government entity in charge may be held responsible. The statute of limitations to file a government claim is six months, so getting assistance from a lawyer is a good idea.
  • Auto defects: Defective automobile parts, such as a sticking accelerator, brake failure or a steering wheel that locks, can cause the driver to lose control. Keeping the vehicle after an injury accident is advisable, so it can be examined for an auto defect. If this was the cause of the collision, an auto product liability claim may be placed against the manufacturer, part designer and others.

Roof Crush in a Rollover Accident

In rollover accidents, the roof of a vehicle can be especially vulnerable to crushing. This is because when a car rolls onto its roof, it places immense force on the pillars supporting it. If these pillars are not strong enough to withstand this pressure, the roof crush can cause traumatic injuries to the occupants inside. Furthermore, if the roof crushes too far in, it can lead to head and neck injuries such as fractured vertebrae, which can be especially serious. When a roof crush occurs, retaining the vehicle is important so that it can be examined. This is another case where the manufacturer may be held liable.
