Woman Killed After Car Accident in Fresno County

A woman was killed, and several others were injured after a car accident near Kingsburg, CA, in Fresno County on the night of May 14, 2020. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 in the vicinity of Sierra Street. An 18-year-old Ivanhoe woman reportedly lost control of her 2006 Honda and crashed into the median wall, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Two drivers, identified as a 24-year-old Visalia man and a 28-year-old Fresno man, were approaching the scene of the initial collision and were unable to avoid the woman’s vehicle. The two oncoming cars crashed into her. The drivers of the two other cars and two children sustained minor injuries after the Kingsburg crash, the CHP said. It is unknown whether they were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The Ivanhoe woman was extricated from her vehicle and transported via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment of catastrophic injuries. Sadly, she was pronounced deceased during hospitalization. Officials have not yet released her name due to pending notification of her family members.

Rosemont Intersection Head-On Collision Involves Four Vehicles

A head-on collision in Rosemont resulted in the injury of one person at the intersection of Bradshaw Road and Ecology Lane on February 7, 2020. The collision, which happened at 1:22 in the afternoon, involved four vehicles, including a white SUV, a dark sedan, and a yellow delivery truck. It is unknown if the person’s injuries required that they be transported to the hospital for treatment. Three lanes were blocked due to the accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is in charge of the investigation. There is no word as of the time of this report whether drugged or drunk driving was involved.

Sacramento Multiple-Vehicle Accident Causes Injuries

A multiple-vehicle accident in Sacramento along Interstate 5 southbound occurred on November 30. It resulted in an injured person being transported to a local hospital. The accident happened around 5:00 in the afternoon just south of J Street, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and involved four vehicles. It was reported that the fourth vehicle, which had both front and rear-end damage, continued on and exited the highway at Q Street. The other vehicles involved in the collision were a Nissan Sentra, a 2005 Dodge Dakota, and a Ford truck. The accident occurred in the number two lane and blocked the third lane while tow trucks arrived to remove at least two of them from the accident scene. The injured person was transported by medical personnel to Mercy General Hospital for treatment and further evaluation.

National Teen Driver Safety Week Back for 12th Year

October 20 through 26 has been designated as National Teen Driver Safety Week. This is the 12th year that this effort has been made to draw attention to teen driving. It is meant to raise awareness in order to reduce the number of teenage injuries and fatalities from road accidents. It is hoped that parents around California will take this opportunity to talk to their teens about staying safe on the streets, roads, and highways. Surveys have shown that parents who set driving rules for their teenagers and enforce them strictly can make a difference.

Pedestrian Fatality Occurs Along Roseville Road in Sacramento

A car accident on September 20 resulted in a pedestrian fatality as the walker was struck by two separate vehicles along Roseville Road in Sacramento. The accident happened near Connie Drive in the Hagginwood area just before 8:00 in the evening, according to a representative of the Sacramento Police Department. A pickup that was driving west along Roseville reportedly struck the pedestrian, who was in the road, which caused the walker to land in the east lane, where another vehicle struck him. The pedestrian’s identity has not yet been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Man Killed in Manteca Motorcycle Accident

A man was killed, and a female passenger was injured in a recent Manteca motorcycle accident. The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. at West Atherton Drive and Langum Way, just west of Airport Way. Officers responding to the scene found a motorcycle with two riders down and a sheared-off fire hydrant. The man operating the bike suffered unspecified critical injuries, and the female passenger sustained moderate injuries. They were both transported to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries during hospitalization. The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office has identified the decedent as 39-year-old Silfredo D. Lopez of San Leandro.

Man Killed in Tracy Pedestrian Accident

A 59-year-old man was killed in a recent Tracy pedestrian accident. The crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. along the westbound lanes of Interstate 205, just west of MacArthur Drive. For unknown reasons, a Chevrolet Malibu crashed into a man who was walking near the center divider. Sadly, emergency crews pronounced him deceased at the scene. The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office has withheld the man’s name until his family has been notified.

Annual Banana Festival in Sacramento

Summer is event time in Sacramento, and the annual Banana Festival is coming up on August 10 and 11. There will be great entertainment, contests, activities, and delicious foods to try. The festival is being held at William Land Park in the Green Village area, located at 3800 Land Park Drive. To make the festival area easy to find, the cross streets are Sutterville Road and Freeport Boulevard. The Banana Festival is being held for the benefit of the National Academic Youth Corps. This nonprofit works hard to provide educational and art programs in the Sacramento area for more than 15,000 young people as well as adults.

Motorcyclist Identified After Redding Crash

On Friday, June 14, 2019, Shasta County authorities have identified a motorcyclist who tragically passed away after an auto accident that took place in Redding. The fatally injured man was identified as Brandon Lyle Englund, a 29-year-old man from Redding. According to officers of the Redding Police Department (RPD), the accident involved two vehicles, Englund’s motorcycle and a pickup truck. Officers have indicated that the crash is still under investigation. My support and sympathy are sent out to Mr. Englund’s loved ones after they’ve suffered such a tragic loss.

One Injured After Davis CA Plane Crash

Local authorities in Davis reported that one person was injured during a small plane crash that took place just outside of the community of Winters on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Responders said that the pilot of the plane was hospitalized after the crash, but no further information about the injured party has been reported so far. Additionally, no other individuals were reported to have been hurt as a result of the crash.
