Winters DUI Collision

I’m Ed Smith, a Winters personal injury lawyer. An individual was driving drunk in Winters during the evening hours of Saturday, April 29, 2017. The drunk driver crashed their vehicle, which caused their passenger to suffer traumatic injuries.

What Happened?

A man was behind the wheel of his Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southbound along Railroad Avenue. When the man approached the intersection at Grant Avenue and Railroad Avenue, he ran a red light. The man was allegedly speeding moments before he lost control of his vehicle. The man’s Ford sideswiped a light pole which caused the passenger side of the vehicle to shear off.

Passenger Suffers Serious Injuries

A female passenger was riding in the backseat of the man’s vehicle at the time of the collision. The woman suffered major injuries from being trapped in the backseat. The woman, 31-year-old Brooke McNeill, was transported to Kaiser Vacaville. She suffered a hip injury, several bone fractures and a serious head injury. She remains in critical condition.

Police Arrest DUI Driver

The man driving the Ford pickup truck was identified by police as 30-year-old Nicholas Kershner from Woodland. Kershner was detained by authorities on felony driving under the influence. Kershner was booked at the Yolo County Jail and his bail was increased from $50,000 to $1,000,000.
