Tow Truck Light Rail Crash

I’m Ed Smith, a Rancho Cordova truck accident lawyer. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to a crash on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, 2017. The incident involved a tow truck and an inbound Regional Transit light-rail train. Unfortunately, the train accident caused one person to suffer injuries and be taken to the hospital.

Tow Truck Crashes into Light-Rail Train

A tow truck was traveling eastbound along Folsom Boulevard in the vicinity of Mercantile Drive in Rancho Cordova at about 5:30 a.m. The driver of the tow truck lost control of the vehicle. It then crashed into a telephone pole which caused the tow driver to swerve the vehicle. When he swerved, his tow truck struck the front-end of the light-rail train at the doors’ opening for passengers.

Was Anybody Injured?

Thankfully, no passengers on the light-rail train were injured in the accident. Unfortunately, the tow truck driver suffered injuries as a result of the accident. He was transported to the hospital for treatment. No other information pertaining to his condition has been released.

What Caused the Crash?

Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) have not disclosed a cause for this accident yet. However, wet road conditions may have contributed to this incident. It’s important to slow down and give yourself a lot of extra time when operating a motor vehicle in inclement conditions.
