Getting back into work mode can feel exhausting at first, especially if you forget to make time for yourself. Luckily, the city of Sacramento is bursting at the seams with fun activities. Whether you’re a foodie, an appreciator of art, or an outdoors enthusiast – you’ve come to the right city. I have a short compilation of diverse local events listed below to meet your needs.

Chalk It Up

Date: Saturday, September 1 – Monday, September 3, 2018

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Location: 1515 Q Street, Sacramento, CA 95814

Admission: Free

Come watch Fremont Park transform into an explosion of chalk art, live music, food vendors, and arts and crafts booths on Labor Day Weekend. This fundraising event has become a widely popular regional event, gathering more than 60,000 people in attendance. The number one attraction is the hundreds of sidewalk chalk art paintings that evolve over the three-day span of the event. This event could not happen if it weren’t for the local volunteer artists that contribute to the diverse artistic expression. Stop by for the art and creative custom vendors, stay for the lively community atmosphere.

Oceans Alive Art Exhibit

Date: Friday, September 7, 2018

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Location: 1931 L Street, 20th & L Streets, Sacramento, CA 95811

Admission: Free

Visit the deep blue shores of California to the coral reefs in Hawaii at this ocean-oriented art exhibit. This multi-media presentation features award-winning regional artists that have mesmerized viewers with their ability to capture the beauty of water. Showcasing works will include masterpieces from Davidson, Bartolomeo, Matranga, Raines, Tieseler, Voldstedt, Riedell, and more. All art lovers are invited to discover hidden treasures at the Kennedy Gallery, from mystical mermaids and aquatic creatures to realistic underwater landscapes.

Sacramento Burger Battle 2018

Date: Thursday, September 13, 2018

Time: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Location: 910 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814

Admission: $70 tickets

A fun, epic night where participants get to watch and give taste feedback in Sacramento’s very own restaurant burger cook-off. All sales from the 2018 Burger Battle go towards the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. There will be burgers, brews, wine tasting, live music, and of course friendly competition. There will be a judging panel, but attendants also get to play a part in determining the winner. Come be a part of the decision and find out which local restaurant will win the title of Sacramento’s best burger.
