Mendocino County Car Crash Causes Severe Trauma

On Sunday, May 3, 2020, a Mendocino County car crash left two people with severe injuries. The accident happened on a rural road near Covelo in the early morning and involved a single vehicle. California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that both injured individuals were airlifted to nearby hospitals. However, updates on their conditions haven’t been reported. Additionally, the accident remains under investigation at this time.

Crash Details

The accident occurred at around 5:37 a.m. on Foothill Boulevard near the Henderson Lane intersection. Specific details about the events that took place before the crash were not made clear. However, CHP did state that two people had been traveling in a Ford Ranger that, for unknown reasons, drove off the road and collided head-on into a tree. The driver was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Response

Agencies that responded to the accident included the Covelo Fire Department, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, and CHP. When responders first reached the crash site, they found that both the driver and passenger were seriously hurt. Reports indicated that the driver was in declining medical condition and that the passenger suffered a dislocated femur.

Investigation

As CHP officers conduct an investigation into the crash, no likely causal factors have been reported. Solo-vehicle crashes happen frequently and can be caused by multiple factors. Furthermore, many of these are non-driver factors that motorists have no control over. Such factors include hazardous roads and defective car parts.

Recovering from a Serious Injury

Suffering an injury during a vehicle accident can be very difficult. Collision survivors frequently face a long and painful process of recovery. Fully regaining your health can take months and sometimes even years. In severe cases, an accident injury can have permanent symptoms such as limited mobility of issues with cognition.

Furthermore, regaining your health can be very expensive. Medical costs are often high and crash survivors can need multiple surgeries as well as physical therapy and long-term medication. The medical bills that people are left with after car crashes can feel overwhelming, especially if your injury symptoms have made it hard to continue working. In many cases, crash survivors are unsure of how they will be able to recover and move on with their lives.

Calling an Attorney

Fortunately, it is often possible for crash survivors to obtain compensation for the damages they have suffered. By filing personal injury claims, people are often able to hold liable parties and/or insurance companies responsible for medical bills as well as property damage, lost wages, and more.

However, personal injury claims can be very complicated. In many cases, at-fault parties will try to avoid responsibility. In others, insurance companies may offer less compensation than injured parties deserve. In order to make sure that you are able to obtain full payment for what you have lost, it’s critical to have help from an experienced Ukiah personal injury lawyer.
