An Esparto single-vehicle crash caused major injuries to the driver on April 30. The crash happened at State Route 16 and Road 81 west of Woodland around 6:00 p.m. A caller to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported seeing a vehicle drive into a creek.

Fire Department Extricates Vehicle From Creek in Esparto Single-Vehicle Crash

When officers arrived at the accident scene, they found out the minivan had struck a tree and gone off the roadway. Yolo County Fire Department first responders arrived at the scene with a long length of cable to bring the minivan back up to the roadway. The eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 16 were closed to traffic while the vehicle was extricated.

It was determined the driver had suffered major trauma, and they were taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center in Solano County for treatment of their injuries. A determination of the cause of the crash is underway by CHP traffic accident detectives.

Reasons Behind Single-Vehicle Collisions

While driver error often leads to single-vehicle accidents in Esparto, they are not always to blame. If an external factor or another driver’s actions caused your injuries, filing a personal injury claim may be an option. Factors leading to a single-vehicle crash can include:

  • Vehicle defects: Malfunctions, particularly in a vehicle’s braking or steering systems, can cause significant issues, even leading to an Esparto single-vehicle crash. If a vehicle is preserved post-accident, any defects contributing to the crash can be inspected, potentially resulting in a product liability lawsuit against the manufacturer or other parties.
  • Negligence by the government: The condition and upkeep of roads play a crucial role in safe driving. Poor road conditions, like potholes and uneven pavement, can cause a driver to lose control of their vehicle. Government entities responsible for road maintenance can be held liable, but it’s important to act quickly due to the six-month deadline for filing claims, making it wise to enlist the help of an accident attorney.
  • Other drivers: An aggressive motorist, one with road rage or a hit-and-run driver can cause an accident that appears to cause an Esparto single-vehicle crash. By examining the accident scene, roadway, and vehicle, an injury lawyer might be able to determine if another driver was the cause.

Securing Financial Compensation Following a Road Traffic Incident

  • Expenses for medical treatment such as hospital stays, surgical procedures, doctor consultations, and rehabilitation services may be reimbursed.
  • Compensation for lost earnings is available for those unable to work during their recovery period.
  • Damages for non-physical injuries like emotional distress, psychological suffering, and pain and suffering are also recoverable.
