Madera Car Accident Fatality

A Madera car accident fatality occurred on the night of February 1 along Avenue 12 near Road 25. A 76-year-old man was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu westbound along Avenue 12, approaching the intersection. A driver of a Chevrolet Impala was traveling east along Avenue 12 when she made a sudden left turn at the intersection and struck the Chevrolet Malibu. Medical personnel responding to the scene transported the Chevrolet Impala driver to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Sadly, an 81-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet Malibu was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has been withheld by officials due to pending family notification of family members. I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to those who have lost someone they love in this devastating accident.

Investigation of the Madera Car Accident Fatality

A cause of the car wreck has not yet been decided by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Investigators from CHP said alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision. While the roadway was wet at the time of the car crash, this was also not suspected to have contributed to the accident. Typically, a traffic collision report by CHP takes one to two weeks to be processed. When fatalities are involved, this timeline can extend depending on the circumstances of the auto accident.

Car Accidents and Wrongful Death

When a car wreck deprives a family of a loved one, the surviving family members of the decedent may hold a responsible party accountable by filing a wrongful death claim. These types of cases allow families to recover damages such as costs of a loved one’s funeral and burial, loss of income and services for the household, loss of consortium in the case of a spouse, end-of-life medical care, and more. To learn what specific family members can file for wrongful death in California, watch the following video.
