What Happened?
A crash killed an innocent man as he crossed a Galt Street. Officers from the Galt Police Department responded to a call about a hit-and-run crash on Thursday, March 10, 2016. Emergency crews arrived and found the victim lying in the roadway in a unresponsive state. The man was rushed to a Sacramento hospital. Sadly, he passed away due to the severity of his injuries.
Where Did the Galt Pedestrian Fatality Happen?
The pedestrian was walking across F Street in Galt. He was struck by an eastbound truck in front of Quick Stop Market, officers said. The truck was driving along F Street, crossing over a set of railroad tracks between Third and Fourth streets when he hit the pedestrian. After hitting the pedestrian with his truck, the driver stopped briefly, then drove away from scene.
Police officers located a truck with front end damage consistent with the hit-and-run collision and arrested the driver. The driver was booked into the county jail.
Why Do Some People Leave the Scene of an Injury Accident?
There is no excuse for leaving the scene of an accident. It is a crime. Sometimes a hit-and-run driver leaves because he or she was scared. Or maybe he or she was driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, distracted, uninsured, unlicensed, undocumented, or driving a stolen vehicle.
