Fatal Woodland Area Crash Injures Five

Fatal Woodland Area Crash Injures Five

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials reported that a serious car crash happened just outside of Woodland on Friday, January 25, 2019. The accident involved three separate vehicles and took place shortly after sunrise. Five people in total suffered injuries during the auto accident. One of these individuals tragically passed away because of the grave nature of their injuries. Yolo County officials say they will release the identity of the decedent after their family has been notified. CHP is at work investigating this tragic car accident in order to find out what factors were involved. I’d like to express my sympathy to the friends and family members of the fatally injured individual during this difficult time.

Accident Details

The crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. A 1996 Honda had been driving westbound on County Road 19 a few miles west of Woodland. The Honda reportedly tried to pass a 1996 Chevrolet near the intersection of County Road 92C. The Honda crossed over the double-yellow lines of the median to pass the Chevy but struck an eastbound 2013 Ford head-on. The Ford was thrown off-course and struck the Chevrolet.

Emergency responders were called to the crash scene. When they arrived, emergency staff found that multiple people had suffered injuries. All three drivers reportedly suffered minor trauma. One female passenger of the Honda suffered major injuries. She was driven by ambulance to the Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville. A second passenger in the Honda was also found with major injuries. However, he was not able to recover and medics sadly declared him deceased on-scene.

Investigation

As the investigation continues, authorities have said that they do not currently suspect driving under the influence as an accident factor. No suspected factors have been reported so far. CHP has urged anybody with information about this crash to contact them in order to help officers with their investigation. Callers should use the number (530) 662-4685 to report what they know.

Dealing with Fatal Accidents

The death of a family member can be a devastating event. Knowing that the accident could have been prevented can make it even more difficult. People who lose loved ones in accidents often struggle with intense emotions and need to spend time grieving their loss. This can make it hard to focus on daily tasks and doing anything extra can seem even harder. However, responsible parties usually don’t wait to begin defending themselves. Having a lawyer on your side right away can be vital to recovering what you deserve for the losses you have suffered.

Many people don’t know if they will be able to pursue a wrongful death claim. To learn a bit about who is eligible to file a claim, see this video:
