Two People Injured When Truck Runs Off Dickson Hill Road

A run-off-road crash in Fairfield on March 12 injured two people. The accident occurred along Manuel Campos Parkway around Dickson Hill Road, according to a social media report by the Fairfield Fire Department. The truck the two people were riding in left the roadway and crashed into four to five trees, causing extensive damage.

The driver reportedly suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. Authorities are investigating to determine why the vehicle went off the road.

Run-Off-Road Accidents: Why Do They Happen?

Run-off-road accidents are most commonly caused by driver error, such as speeding, distracted or drunk driving. Nonetheless, it is possible for an accident to be caused by something external to the vehicle. In other words, they are the result of an outside influence. The injured party may be entitled to receive fair compensation if this is the case, which can include their medical bills, time off from work, as well as pain and suffering reimbursement.

Run-Off-Road Accidents May Be Attributed to Mechanical Failure

A run-off-road incident can be caused by a vehicle defect, such as the tires, the steering, the accelerator, the brakes or the motor itself. The following factors may contribute to accidents:

  • Tire blowout: When a tire blows or tread separation occurs, the driver can lose control, which can cause the vehicle to go off the roadway.
  • Steering failure: If a driver’s power steering fails, the wheel may lock up, making it impossible for the driver to control the vehicle.
  • Accelerator problems: When the accelerator sticks or doesn’t work, it can easily lead to a run-off-road accident.
  • Brake failure: A driver whose brakes fail can cause an accident when the vehicle cannot be slowed down.
  • Engine failure may be due to poor maintenance: An engine that loses oil can suddenly go into a skid because the wheels lock. This can cause the car to go off the road.

Using an injury lawyer, an auto product liability claim can be placed against a manufacturer and others when a mechanical defect causes an accident. After an accident, engineers need a chance to examine the vehicle for defects, so the wreckage should not be destroyed.

Government Negligence Can Cause a Run-Off-Road Accident

A number of factors can contribute to an accident, including potholes, fissures, and rips in the pavement. For injuries caused by road design or maintenance, the government can be held financially responsible. A government entity claim, however, has a much shorter statute of limitations, so consulting with an attorney may be wise.

The injured party has six months from the date of the injury to file a claim. The government entity has 45 days to answer it. If the claim is refused, the injured party has six months in which to file a lawsuit. They have two years to file if the government entity doesn’t respond.
