Eureka Pedestrian Collision
I’m Ed Smith, a Eureka car accident lawyer. On July 14, 2017, an automobile accident in Eureka left a pedestrian with traumatic injuries when the man was struck by a vehicle after running into the street.
Accident Details
According to preliminary reports issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of K and 4th Streets. CHP reported that it was at this time that they received a call indicating that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
Witnesses of the collision spoke to officers and claimed that they saw the pedestrian behaving erratically prior to suddenly running into the street. CHP said that the oncoming vehicle was unable to come to a stop before colliding with the pedestrian.
Response and Injury
CHP told reporters that their emergency medical personnel discovered that the pedestrian had sustained traumatic injuries. The man was immediately put onto a stretcher and rushed by a medical ambulance to the nearest hospital in order to receive emergency treatment.

Officers of CHP indicated that the driver of the vehicle was very cooperative and that they do not suspect the driver to have been under the influence of any drugs or alcohol. The injured pedestrian, however, was still in the hospital at the time of reporting and authorities are still investigating what may have caused him to run into the street.
Pedestrian Collisions

In order to avoid being seriously injured in a pedestrian accident, it is important to never assume that a vehicle is going to see you, even if you are wearing bright clothing and correctly using a crosswalk.
